The Boxing thread

For on the road wins Fury's takes some beating especially with the reputation Germany has for shenanigans

Another one I remember fondly was Robin Reid who I'd seen training on a couple of occasions at my gym and always followed his career closely - his win in Italy v Nardiello for a world title was a massive achievement given the old axiom that you have to knock your opponent out in Italy to get a draw.

Good shout, Reid had the godfather of Manchester boxing in his corner, Brian Hughes MBE.

I liked the Gomez fight. I was ringside for a war with Bernard Dunne and Ricardo Cordoba the best fight i ever seen live and at ringside too.
Also think Joe Calzaghe v BHop was a great win by a Brit away from home Bhop was dodgy fighter to fight and Joe on his US debut won it well.

I've noticed Hatton's been doing the rounds recently with his young HW prospect Nathan Gorman, it's early days yet with 2 pro fights(did well in the amateurs) but Ricky's chosen to put him forward first with this new deal he's got going with Frank Warren and Box Nation so he must see something. He's from good stock apparently the grandson of Bartley Gorman aka 'King of the Gypsies' bare knuckle champion related to the Fury's(I know using relatives to gauge doesn't always work out though).

Watched a couple of clips on youtube of him, very stocky, hits hard and has fast hands, no disrespect to Ricky but he looks out of shape even for a trainer which is slightly worrying but I'm sure he has a team of trainers there at the gym now(didn't he re-unite with Billy Graham and hire him too?). Could be one to watch, he fights on the Billy Joe Saunders under-card on the 30th April on Box Nation.

GGG v Dominic Wade
Roman Gonzalez v McWilliams Arroyo
Kenia Enriquez v Amaris Quintana

Golovkin weighed in bang on 159 Dominic Wade 159.6

Nathan Gorman fights on Copper Box show 30 April then he is back out 2 weeks later on 14 May. He looks an excellent prospect

So Frampton v Santa Cruz is on for New York in the summer. Makes sense for Frampton its the next big money fight. I know people will say he should fight Rigo but the money aint there in that fight sadly. I would of loved to see that fight. IF Carl beats Santa Cruz sets up a big unification fight with Lee Selby too. Or even Gary Russell Jnr or Vasyl Lomachenko fair play to Frampton in takking this fight I think he beats Santa Cruz and him against Gary Russell Jnr be a great fight too.

Fair play to Frampton he's always been happy to travel, and is prepared to fight anyone, similar to Khan. I think he beats Selby at 126 and 'maybe' Santa Cruz. However, Lomachenko & Russell Jnr would both be far too strong for Carl and imo would stop him early.
Can't see GGG having any problems tonight, the number one IBF challenger Tureano Johnson pulled out with a shoulder injury. Wade is the next highest ranked contender. Golovkin is 6 wins short of beating Hopkins record of middleweight title defences, currently 20 (including one no contest)
