A few bits and pieces of news Willie Casey to fight the Cuban Rigondeux.

It will be a interesting March for Irish fighters with Caseys World title shot comfirmed and the chances of both Magee and Lee also in the running of getting World title fights as a Irish man I cant wait.
 
My sources tell me tickets for Casey v Rigondeaux will be on sale before Xmas either tomorrow or Friday will deffo be going to this fight. Its a shame it is up in the Citywest hotel it will cost me some money to get home from there that night but if the results good it will be a all nighter.

Also tonight we got confirmation that Magee v Bute will be on the same night aswell in Canada.

2 Irish fighters fighting for World titles on the same night thats amazing and with the prospect of Lee fighting the Saturday before that in a World title fight it could well be a great March for Irish boxing even if none of them win it is a great couple of weeks for Irish boxing.
 
Just bought tickets to the Casey v Rigo fight on Paddys Weekend. It is going to be manic week with the Cheltenham horse racing on that week. As soon as these 2 weeks of Xmas is over I will be trying to put some money aside for that week as getting home from the Citywest wont be cheap at daft o clock in the morning. Also I will need to cover my bets for the week.

My fighter of the year is Sergio Martinez brilliant has to be a force with the top men now fighting out there.

My Young Fighter of the Year I will have to go for Carl Frampton this bloke will clean up and will win a British title at Super Bantamweight in 2011 and might even get his hands on the European title as well. Power puncher and great boxing skills.

Fight of the Year. A number of contenders. Khan v Maidana , even BHop v Pascal was a good fight. But my winner was Katsidis v Marquez to get up off a KO like Marquez did and to stop Katsidis was truely amazing.

Joke of the Year. Haye v Audley

Knock Out of the Year Martinez KOing Paul Williams as soon as he landed Williams was out cold.

Fighter of the year

Sergio Martinez - win over Pavlik and KO win over Paul Williams. Can't really argue with that. Pascal would have been in with a shout had he beaten Hopkins (and looked convincing)


Young fighter of the year

Amir Khan. He still counts having just turned 24.


Fight of the year

I can't decide. Probably Khan - Maidana followed by JMM - Katsidis.


Joke of the year

Haye - Harrison. Easy. Haha.

Fighter of the Year? Pacman, he's really shown what a top, top fighter he is...just wish he'd fight Mayweather.

Young Fighter of the Year? Too many decent young fighters so can't make a decision, although DeGale has a bright future.

Fight of the Year? Khan v Maidana

Joke of the Year? Harrison...a total fraud.

Knock Out of the Year? Harrison KOing Sprott, simply because the fight was such a non event up until that split second.

I agree with most of that. I'd probably go with DeGale for young fighter and possibly Juan Manuel Lopez/Rafa Marquez for fight of the year.

Haha. Have to wait and see what happens with those 2 cases before anything else. Pac is fighting Mosley now in May next year so him and Floyd wont be getting it on for at least another 12 months.
 
I should of renamed young fighter of the year to Prospect of the year. I know I go about Frampton a lot on here but he will burst onto the scene big time next year in the UK. Not a lot of people know of him but with McGugian guiding him on his way he has classed him the best young fighter in Ireland and the UK.

As for DeGale he still tends to slap with some punches he throws and is pro nearly 2 years he shouldnt be doing that. His teckkers is letting him down. IF he sorts out his teckkers he will get more power into his punches and will be a force not too sure yet on how far he will go but him and Groves has to be made next year. Be interested to see how he gets go when he gets into troble and in the Groves fight he may well get in some troble.

Thought that myself. I'm not sure how they judge it really, If they're just going off performances in 2010 then Floyd wouldn't be anywhere near the top. Not entirely sure how Berto makes it to 21 either.
