The Boxing thread

Tonight is a s good as it will get for Frampton. He didn't win those first 6 rounds, he sneaked them.

Yeah, even if you had Frampton 6-1 up after 7(which frankly would be a joke because some of those rounds were a draw as nothing happened) you still couldn't have it Frampton by 4 as Quigg won the rest apart from the 12th. Very disappointing fight anyway that's for sure.

Piss poor. Clearly neither are absolute top drawer. The Irish guy seemed fucked later on and quigg seemed limited to me. Was hardly haggler v hearns.

I think it was a fight that Quigg will feel he lost just as much as Frampton won.

Quigg offered virtually nothing and gifted Frampton the first 6 rounds. It may have been a totally different result if he would have adapted a more aggressive game plan. In the build up it has all been about Quigg's work rate and how he doesn't tire. With that in mind I expected a bit more from him.

That said, huge credit should go to Frampton. A world title holder going to Quigg's back yard in a unification bout takes some guts. He also boxed very efficiently and made sure he dominated the centre of the ring in the first half of the fight, hence giving the judges little option than to favour him.

I think round 11 aside, Frampton controlled the fight and whether or not Quigg offered much, it's a mark of a true champion to rack up the rounds no matter the circumstance.

I had it Frampton by 3 rnds. Disappointed with Quigg thought his timing was a mile off tonight, the few times he tagged Carl, he didn't step on him. Take nothing away from Frampton, he ticked off the rounds without having to do anything special and got the job done. Not a classic by any means but the atmosphere was awesome. Fair play to the Belfast fans, got behind their boy from the off and were very loud.

Now for Terence Crawford & Hank Lundy (Boxnation 2am). "Bud' never fails to impress these days, reminds me abit of Tommy Hearns, not his jab, but the way he off loads.

Come On City!

It was a good fight and Frampton won easy those first 6 rounds let Quigg down a splidt decision was a bad call listening to Sky is shit Quigg done nothing until the last few rounds. Also how 1 judge called it to Quigg I will never know. Fighting in Quiggs backyard and winning it on the cards is great. A rematch i cant see happening anytime soon Frampton v Rigondeuax I want to see more to see how well he gets on against the best fighter in the division this fight could happen again in a few years time both young. Carl will move up sooner rather than later wants Santa Cruz or Selby both be good fights.

Fair play Leighton you were right about Frampton-out boxed Scott on the night be great if they have a rematch because yet again Quiggs tactics were poor-very good boxer Carl but not in Rigo's league imo.

Just hope we have a better result at Wembley.

Frampton broke Quiggs jaw in the 4th round.

Crawford lost the 1st round but went on to stop Lundy in the 5th. Maybe a fight with Viktor Postal or Lucas Matthysse is on the cards. He may even look at moving up to 147lb.

To say Frampton shouldnt of been giving the early rounds is daft the judges have to score the rounds if it looks like your trying to fight then you got to be scored in favour for the round. It has to be the right way to score the fight. I still dont see how 1 judge had it for Quigg. To be honest I am happy Carl won he deserved it had no fear of the fight in Manchester and won it easy enough not too many scary moments. As for a rematch well it wont happen any time Carls next 2 fights could well be Rigodeaux and Shingo Wake but more than likely he will have to drop 1 title a bit like Tyson Fury which is daft. Which 1 will Carl face I would rather he fight Rigondeaux then move up to Featherweight.

A rematch with Quigg is not big enough for a Wembley in my view not that well know for it more chance they could 50 000 in we say Ravenhill or somewhere in the North as the majority of fans will be Irish again at the fight. So Carl fighting on the road his last 2 fights more than likely the next 1 will be on the road too. I hope its Rigondeaux just want to see how he copes with fighting the best in the division.

Boxing confuses me! I watched the mayweather v Pacquiao fight and thought that pac man wanted it more and was the aggressor with mayweather having a brilliant yet boring defensive tactic. Yeah mayweather was a boxing master class and quigg is classed as poor. He blocked all but a few of framptions punches in the early rounds and caught him with a few of his own. He started to slow I agree but just don't get judges sometimes

Think Quigg and Big Joe threw that away with a poor game plan last night. Wasted far too many rounds struggling to get close to Frampton.

As soon as they found out Sky had him 6-1 down something clicked and he went for it big time and I think Frampton struggled a lot with it. He was looking at the referee and looking at his corner like he didn't want to be there at one point which was strange considering the fight had only become a taxing fight around 2 rounds earlier. There was also a point earlier on where Quigg caught Carl and for a moment it looked like the ropes had kept him up, although Sky didn't really show too many replays of it so it was difficult to tell.

I think in a rematch I would probably favour Quigg. I think Frampton struggled at the weight, I think last night shows that he isn't entirely comfortable.

I hope to God he doesn't fight Rigo next because it has snoozefest written all over it. Going up to fight Santa Cruz might be a good option although I don't see him winning that on his last two performances.

Personally I would like to see a rematch. There wasn't a clear winner last night. It almost felt like Frampton won the boxing match but Quigg won the fight.
