The Boxing thread

You're right, I don't think the average casual fan has heard of either of them

Don't be ridiculous. Most venues for big fights including Joshua or Frampton / Quigg are no bigger than 20,000. Saunders is yet to defend his world title yet they're touting somewhere huge.

I agree with you man, I wasn't being sarcastic. BJS and GGG have had little or no exposure anywhere except Box Nation and so naturally the average bear hasn't heard of them.

GGG has been on Sky Sports and Channel 5 in the UK too I think his fight with Martin Murray was live on Channel 5. So GGG would have as others have said so many people there to watch him. A bit like the fans who were looking forward to seeing Rigo this weekend as his in ring talent is the best I have ever seen. Also some rumours flying about that Rigo went AWOL and didnt have Visa issues.

GGG fought Murray live on Channel 5 in Monte Carlo, at the same time there was another big fight live on sky, can't remember who so think most would of missed it unless they taped it. Think hes also fought on sky but nearly all his fights have been on Box nation.
I share the same birthday with GGG, if anyone's arsed.

It wouldn't surprise me about Rigo. It was a very strange fight in the first place and with Frank's record of having fights cancelled at late notice you could almost see it coming

This Barroso lad was an unknown till he fought Kev Mitchell now i've seen people talking like hes going to finish Crolla and then take the division by storm?

A heavy handed southpaw will always be a handful but I didn't see enough in that fight for Linares, Flanagan etc to be quaking in their boots.

Not on his game tonight but clear winner. Derry is a tough kid and doing the 12 rnds will do Terry no harm. Thought he was lucky not to get another round chalked off, needs to be careful, a closer fight it could cost him. Well done Turbo still world champion.
