The Boxing thread

Yeah he's swimming against the tide against Canelo. I'd be surprised if he hears the final bell, but so long as he gives a decent account of himself, he can still have the Brook fight. Another fight where his chin gets tested. It's hard to confidently back him against any solid hitting top class fighter.

Trying to think of positives but he's in for a tough fight. Fair play for having a go, like you said, just hope he gives a good account of himself and dosnt get smashed early.

You know that belt is really Furys, everyone knows that. The ibf is the biggest joke organisation anyway. Fury is a millions levels above Whyte so understandably that fight will never happen. If fury beats Wladimir again will you give him credit?
I was thinking more the wbc belt?

Yes will give him some credit but would like to see him fight someone younger and abit more in there prime.

Carl was nails mate, he came through with (master) Ronnie green (who's having a film made about him), both Muay Thai backgrounds... Yeah, Jonny Nelson is ignored an awful lot, unfortunately the glamour of the heavyweight division, coupled with the money, draws in many a cruiserweight!

Cruiser is a great division, very overlooked as you say. This was my fight of the year last year, Marco Huck going for his 15th defence of his title to beat Johnny Nelsons record.

Was at the first Thompson v Eubank fight on Naz bill and it stole the show, also remember going mental watching him come from behind to KO a bloke called Sebastian Rothman I think
What a heart he had

Did someone say it's sad what's happened to him ? What's happened ?

Haye's first loss was to the cat, he gassed completely after trying to knock the cat out, was ahead on all three cards but the tank was empty, he wasnt badly knocked out though so I wouldnt say that made him gun shy at all.
Thompson was a heavy, if not hard puncher, and Haye was about half his age!...so he has always appeared a little wary of taking a shot since, but that's only my op...

Where did I say they had fought again?

Struggling, aren't we?? Have a gander at your original post....

You can't of watched Haye in his career if you believe for one second he was shot shy... He'd ruck with the best of them and he did on numerous occasions....

taking on Carl at that stage, was a no brainer, the mistake from booth et al, was Haye was blowing a gasket after 2 rounds, it was a terrible gameplan as it wouldn't of mattered if Carl was 55 on the day, his chin always was, always will be granite... Haye learnt a valuable lesson and it benefited him for the rest of his career.... Conditioning!!!!

Still don't see it...like I don't see or recall Haye rucking with the best of them....he ran with the best of them when his big fight came, and then got dodgy injuries that postponed fights ( including 2 with Fury?) with the best of them...Fight historians generally hold that a fighters chin is the first thing to go....not the last.
For the record, and as prev stated, I think Haye could be a helluva fighter, but actually he isn't?...could have taken down Klitch as I thought and wagered at the time, but didn't...so why is that? if it wasn't his conditioning and skills...must be his cojones...only thing left.
