The Boxing thread

Kell would be very unwise to get into a war with Gennady, I don't think he can match his power.
You can't start backing off against Golvokin though, that's exactly what he lives for and what he's best at. He'll chase him down, trap him against the ropes and just pound on him until it's over, that's what always ends up happening. If he's going to stand any chance then he has to try and force Golovkin back, or at least hit him hard enough to deter him from just plowing forwards, which no one has managed to do yet. It's an uphill task whatever he tries. I reckon he's got the speed to hit Golovkin, but not the power to cause much grief

Only way Brook is winning is on points. On another note does anyone have a decent link to watch this online ? Don't mind paying if it's not going to be a dodgy one

I'm not really that excited for the GGG fight, I'd be amazed if Brook pulled an upset but it's no different than the Khan Vs Canelo fight for me only without the negative vibes from so called neutrals.

GGG vs Canelo would be great but they are going to make us wait for maximum profit. I still say people rating GGG's boxing "skills" on his amateur background is a mistake he's very decent but not needed to show much of it because of his power and the level of opposition. You don't become a great boxer without being tested by great fighters, forced to use your skills when you aren't going to get the KO or worse still they have the edge in power and that has not happened yet. I still see the fight as GGG is naturally the bigger fighter with more power but Canelo is the smarter fighter able work opponents out in the ring, he's always been an old head on young shoulders fighting like a veteran from a young age except now he can be considered a veteran with the amount of pro fights he's had. If there's no knockdowns Canelo wins comfortably on points for me, if there's knockdowns or a knockout the bigger man(GGG) will prevail in that type of fight.

Ward would take GGG apart for me, there's no way GGG would be able to prepare for that step up in class(more skilled, better footwork and ring craft and can probably take the shots that do get around his excellent defence) unless he can knock him out but I don't see that fight happening anyway.

No one knows about the Canelo fight true but Canelo keeps running from the GGG fight is a joke as he knows deep down that he will be beaten by GGG. While I would say GGGs amateur background is up there with the best no matter what he was a Gold medalist in the World championship Silver medalist in the Olympics the guy is a talented boxer. I think he is a type of boxer fighter that we wont see for a long long time. As he can be equally as good a boxer with the added power. This is what is preventing the Canelo fight as Canelos team know they will lose the fight like against Money. They could lose it either way on the cards or by KO its too risky a fight for Canelo so he will run from GGG. Also GGG could do well against Ward it be a great fight to watch.

Hey that's your take on it feel free but I disagree, Olympic medals don't always translate to P4P Audley Harrison had a gold medal remember? I never said he wasn't a very good boxer but his skills aren't what set him apart it's his power, like I said you only become a great boxer when you overcome great boxers for me. Is this what boxing has become where we hand out accolades so readily before anything's really happened? Canelo's not ducking anyone for me, he's being managed and boxing is all about greed these days, lets not forget a younger Canelo has stepped in with Mayweather(and a Mayweather type fighter Golovkin is not), I really cannot see how anyone can say there's anything GGG could show him that would surprise him. Canelo's been in with far better opposition he's been steadily improving as he goes as well. GGG's a good knockout artist but this whole "his skills are underrated" angle is backlash from his fanboys who want to pad out his credentials overrate his opposition and go on as if he's an upcoming young fighter fresh out of the amateurs, I wish they'd just enjoy him for what he is and stop trying to place him in the hall of fame before he's really done anything of note. American's love an underdog, coming from poor countries rising to become the biggest draw in boxing has been done before, I like those stories too but I don't get carried away with them they(the boxing media) use the same tricks over and over to play on fight fans emotions... it's all to get you invested emotionally. Xfactor are masters at doing it yet none of the fans of that show seem to mind or build any immunity to it.

I still think Ward would take him apart he's not a slick fighter, he's not got the movement to get to him and I think his defence would prove too tricky for him. His level of opposition hasn't been anywhere near the level of Ward it would be such a shock to him that the fight would run away from him before he knew it.

We all have our favorites and our opinions and these fighters will keep proving us all wrong every now and then too, I'll be watching at the weekend anyway. Is this a Skyboxoffice job or a Boxnation one?

Thats the thing he has beaten whoever he has boxed and whoever steps in goes down. He is a likeable fighter. Boxing to a style were he will always be fan favourite. I think if your being avoided by the big names its for a reason. They dont want to fight you. He will go down as a Hall of Fame fighter no matter what. I wouldnt class myself as a fan boy of GGG I just think he has it all. We only see the power as he has been winning by KO a lot. Not much you can do if the fighters your in with cant take your shots. I do think GGG can move up and be a 2 weight champion he wants Canelo we all know it but we all know Canelo wont fight him anytime soon.

He's not done anything though that's the shame in even talking about the hall of fame(I'm not saying he can't but he simply hasn't yet that shows how far boxing has fallen) and like I said Canelo isn't ducking anyone he's fought a fighter that was on another planet to GGG skills-wise, that's a plus point to Canelo not a reason why he's ducking GGG. There's nothing GGG could do to surprise him. Is his footwork or defence amazing? You'd have no chance of making a case they were. Also I don't buy that every decent fighter is ducking him it's excuses from fanboys spinning it their way, if the money is right then why wouldn't they unless his team are taking the piss in negotiations? People fight much bigger punchers at heavyweight where it's far more dangerous and fights still get made there why's this any different? The hype has reached insane levels now where we are happy to put in the hall of fame records "amazing fighter but everyone was too scared of him so he didn't have many good names on his record", does that sound likely? Have all boxers become cowards suddenly or does that sound like hype talk?

I rate him but no more excuses get these fights made or there's something up on their end... it's too convenient that his status continues to rise as these fights fail to get made, he's winning fights without throwing a punch and people don't see it.

GGG fans seem so emotionally invested it's clouding their judgement I wonder how they would react to a loss.

I dont think they will react in any way. Every fighter is 1 shot away from a defeat. Fanboys will always react the same way. I think no matter what we will see GGG in some top fights for another 2 to 3 years. Everyone criticised Joe Calzaghe years ago saying he boxed no one until the Jeff Lacy fight then he got a load of bigger fights after it then went undefeated too. I see the same happening with GGG
