The Boxing thread

That is one messy situation he has got himself into with them. Will end in either Jail or death.

I have a lot of time for Matt Macklin seems a nice guy. I honestly think if your friends with a cartel boss even if you aint involved in anything it could well lead to his life being in danger. Look at what happen to Jamie Moore over there that bullit he took was for Kinahan but Moore was the innocent person in the wrong place at the wrong time. MGM have a few good pros involved in the gym Liam Smith , Derry Mathews , Tom Stalker , Bradley Saunders , Jamie Conlan and a good few younger fighters. These guys are getting on shows in Spain and Ireland until this year and the killing which has stopped any promotions here. The fighters are being well looked after by Kinahan but for these guys they will be finding there lives being under the spotlight. Liam Smith in his biggest fight against Canelo this weekend and if he has anything to do with anything wrong doing then he will be thinking the worst

Always been wary of MGM Marbella. Thought it was something to do with MGM USA at first. But then you see it's used by the likes of Billy Joe Saunders etc and wonder if it's a bit of an excuse for a holiday etc.

A high risk holiday for some with the guys coming in. Its Macklins gym. IF he had no contact with the crime lord he would have a decent gym out there that would benefit a lot of fighters from the UK and Ireland it just seems to be too much of a risk to train out there at times. These guys out there connected to Macklin even in friendship you wouldnt trust as far as you can throw them. Macklin has said in the past that they have supported him in training for fights in the past but now I hope Matt isnt in too deep as the police in Spain and Ireland are all out to get Kinahan and all of his hench men. A lot of murders over here from a fued with Kinahans and The Monk and it doesnt look like it will end any time soon. Until there is 1 man left standing.

Yeah Sky are showing a fight tomorrow night too. Might be a good fight to watch. The next few fights will be good on Sky the Manchester card is going to be good. Think Crolla gets beaten its going to be a good few weeks of fights coming along. Would like to see Smith beating Canelo but i want Canelo to win so we might get the chance of Canelo v GGG.

Anyone know where I can stream box nation on a I phone please lads?

Google is baron
You could try Stopstream but you may have to download a web browser off the App Store first (Puffin or Skyfire) due to flash issues. There will be a few ads but just keep deleting them . Or if somebody puts up a link, search it through one of the web browsers.

Not much joy, I'll have to persevere Mrs is getting pissed off with sports today on the tele

Down again in the 8th to a body shot. So heavy handed and Smith doesn't seem able to hurt him

I thought Smith might of been nicking that round till the end. Put up a great account of himself but just out punched by a heavy handed beast of a boxer. Be awesome to see him against ggg

Well done to Smith first of all but outcome was never in doubt Canelo is too good and if you watched that fight and still think he's in any way scared of GGG then I'd like to know how you can still beleive that. He's even more devistating when a fighter brings it to him(all his best fights are when he's forced to fight) and if they don't have good defense he has the power and the technique to put anyone down. Canelo knows how to roll with punches(any marks on his face?) and has good defensive skills(not maywhether like but a step above GGG) between the two they both have great chins but can both knock each other out so it would come down to who's the better all around boxer(not just attack the whole package) and that's always been Canelo for me but it would be a fight where one punch from either boxer could swing it their way.

GGG is a under rated boxer as his KO record is so so good. GGG has only lost 1 fight as a am if my memory is right. So GGGs boxing skills we have yet to see it as he hasnt been in with anyone who could damage him or stop him from KOing them. I hope the fight gets made and I think GGG wins at Middleweight may not be by KO as both men have good chins but on points. I think there may well be a couple of knock downs in the fight too.

Only time he has used any of his skills was against David Lemieux. He knew Lemieux has genuine KO power so kept him at range and jabbed his head off. He would do the same to Canelo.

Well for me its obvious his defensive skills are not up to the level of Canelo's who is the better all around boxer whereas GGG is a power fighter with great offensive skills(it shouldn't be understated that you need to land the shots to show the power and he's brilliant at doing that... being in the right position picking the right punches), he doesn't roll with the punches much at all though and his head movement isn't great, sure he knows he can take a punch but nobody lets their face get bloodied up like what happened with Brook who was actually outboxing GGG for me landing more, making him miss and frustrating him. If you have the skills you use them, you hone/perfect them, this notion that he can change his style that dramatically is not realistic we'd have seen it already. Against Lemieux who is just a decent fighter at best, he won that fight with his jab and controlling the distance(which is a good gameplan... to avoid anyone testing your defenses too much) against a better fighter he would not be able to do that, Canelo's jab is every bit as good and his hands are faster IMO. The only way I see GGG wins on points is if there are knockdowns causing a few 10-8 rounds(which is entirely possible), I thought the same before the Brook fight and what I saw in that fight has convinced me further that Canelo wins on points.

I wouldn't mind either fighter wining as I'm not really that invested in either fighter but I think Canelo is underrated and has somehow found himself despite having a fairly good character becoming the people's villain a lot of the time. He's not inflammatory and he's quite respectful compared to a lot, mature for his age too perhaps and his only loss coming to Mayweather(who nobody would outbox, that's a true P4P king) of all opponents in 50 fights is nothing to sniff at. He's earned the right to call himself a great fighter, he's a one off to achieve so much so young in this day and age and he's still got many years left is the scary thing(he'll improve even more).

I suppose there's no point in arguing too much till the fight happens, it's going to be a great fight when it finally comes around that's all we should be hoping for and may the best man win. :)

Boxing needs these big big fights its the only way its going to get back to the glory days. I look at the fights that happen so far some really good fights this year and more to come if we can see GGG V Canelo by the end of the year it be huge. A fight of the year contender. Also hearing Frampton v Santa Cruz 2 will be on before Xmas too. Not too sure on the venue yet but its the US. Also might end up leading to Warrington v Selby if and when the other fight gets made.
