What makes a city worth a visit? Things to see. A lot of stuff in Paris is linked to their royal heritage. Like I said before a monarchy might not make much sense but it does add or did to a countries culture.I didn't say we weren't thriving? I'm not even a big monarchist I just think they add some value. Its pretty low down on things to be bothered about imho.

Really difficult to see how you could ever slim it down. You either keep it, with all the knobs on, or you abolish it entirely, and there is no appetite, politically or socially, within England for the latter.

I was talking to a lad in the pub last night and we agreed that without the monarchy we wouldn't have been in the pub or getting paid for a day's holiday today so for £1.24 for the year it's a right fucking bargain:-)
