£20 UC extra payments to end. Tough on the folk on UC. What about the 1000's on Jobseekers Allowance who got nothing extra. 'Lower than a snake's belly in a wheel rut' that's us. Third world Country going to the dogs.

Yes you have the same tax allowance which is around £12,500 pa so anything above that is taxable
Oddly once you get the state pension they deduct that from your tax free allowance and issue you a new tax code.

It doesn’t start until October 2023!

Have they got Attendance Allowance for her if she’s over retirement age or PIP if under?
It’s not much but all helps and she’ll definitely qualify.

I strongly recommend you read this and check how much of this they did not know. LAs are very good at not informing people of their rights.

One thing that has not been addressed yet is whether private care homes can send you packing once your £85K has been used up. At the moment they can.
Many thanks Denis. That is a really good article. I will pass it on to her husband. She is in her 80's by the way.

Looking at the new rules you can only claim care costs and not living expenses but reading that article she may be able to count ALL costs because of her condition.

Thanks again.

Lest we forget! Every single person spent their first 16-18 years being looked after by the now older generation and yet they are complaining about paying, let's face it, a small amount each month to pay for the care of a, relatively, small proportion of the population that badly need it.

But we already do, the big point was people having to sell everything to pay for care, that has not changed, we are basically paying more and getting very little more back. I see these release equity firms getting shed loads of business, get to your 70s filter as much as you can to your kids and blow the rest.

So.. if someone earns 50k. Will they notice any difference in their monthly pay ? Out of interest
I’m woeful at Maths but you’re looking at about £40 a month I think on £50k a year.

The cost of my FOC season ticket.
