The trouble they will have is cutting through what appears to be a new policy of just inventing stuff they claim that Labour have done. It'll be easier for the Conservatives to make it sound bad than for Labour to prove it's rubbish.

It's noticeable that in recent weeks, TV people have been more willing to challenge the tosh that's cited.

This 100%.

It does seem clear that the Conservative campaign will focus on both lying and sowing division at a level I imagine most of us have never experienced before. Without a robust media to challenge this we cannot kid ourselves we have a functional democracy.

It doesn't look good tbh as we've allowed our media to get into a terrible state. Hopefully at least some elements of the BBC will stop cowering and fulfil its remit (but things like last nights newsnight needs to be seen by much bigger audiences) along with more people maybe recognising some of the qualities of C4 News too. Aside from that it will be down to new media channels to try and keep the debate at least faintly grounded in reality.

Deffo . More importantly I think real conservative voters have given up on the party they have voted for all their life . Hence the swing for bottom feeder voters .

The majority of the media outlets out there are more right than left in their outlook and are probably owned by Rupert Murdoch. They will keep pumping out the conservative propaganda on immigrants and woke lefties as it helps tip the narrative in the Tory’s favour and keeps people voting for them.

People shouldn’t be gullible and look in their bank accounts at what they have to spend payday to payday. There needs to be a better alternative than what we have in government at the moment.

Even at their conference you can see the sane ones thinking wtf am I doing here. The trouble is there is not enough of them galvanised to fight back. The conservative muscle memory of hold your nose and focus on being in power is still strong but it's diluting as more of them accept they've lost their party to nutters.

Sowing hatred and division is all they know currently.
We have a cost of living crisis. Food, energy and other essentials are all going up at a rate we've not seen since the 1990s (IIRC). The NHS has huge waiting lists and the badly negotiated Brexit has impacted in many areas. Yet their conference has hardly discussed any of these matters. They act as though a different group has been the party of government for the past thirteen years.

Sunak is going to stand on stage today and tell people that he is not interested in the North and will not build HS2 to Manchester - he will say that on a stage in Manchester in a former railway station.

You could watch that on a device linked to the free wi-fi on the Al Boraq in Morocco - a 200mph + high speed train that travels between Casablanca and Tangier. But we are world leaders .............. ffs
