Don’t disagree but this chain of events tends to happen with each change of government.

Certainly did in 1979 and 2010, with 1997 being the exception.

most common sensed people don't vote - they are ambivalent because they see politics as the natural habitat of rabid loonies these days and would rather not engage - which is of course why we are where we are but that suits most politicians down to the ground

If common sense was indeed common, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in.
