The Conservative Party

I can't see how prices can ever reduce. Russian gas accounted for 40% of EU supply, 13% of global supply, forget all the other things in this like grains, metals, oil etc which again is all impacted by the Russian influence and the war in Ukraine. Even if the Ukraine war ends we're hardly likely to suddenly start buying gas from Russia anytime soon. The Russians know this and beyond nuclear weapons it's their key lever to holding the world to ransom.

People really do think that we'll vote in a Labour government and suddenly inflation will be 0% and our £250pm bills will go back to £100pm but it's not going to happen. Nothing whatsoever is going to change, we need to bed in for the long haul because like it or not what people forget is that we're essentially at war with a major superpower.

The impact of this war is huge and even the risk of nuclear war has never been higher. We can't all sit here and moan about how expensive stuff is and just expect it to go away via a change of government.
Ye totally get that but hopefully the end if the war and stability will help, the twats know we will pay more it’s like petrol prices it’s all bloody rigged :(

Wish they’d stop calling it inheritance tax it’s a death tax and a disgraceful one at that.
It raises a lot of money of wealthy people who can afford it.

Right now the Nil rate band for couples passing on a house goes up to £1m. So you need a pretty stonking house before your family has to pay anything.

I thought it was £300k! When did it go up?

It’s £325k per person, but in a married couple (not sure about civil partnerships etc) both you and your spouse can pass on 325k tax free so £750k in total. There is an additional relaxation per person of £125k if you pass your house onto your grandchildren, thus making a total of £1m.

I would imagine to be in line with equality laws both same sex marriages and civil partnerships will have equal status as a marriage. It seems to apply to all rights and legal obligations.
