I can't see how prices can ever reduce. Russian gas accounted for 40% of EU supply, 13% of global supply, forget all the other things in this like grains, metals, oil etc which again is all impacted by the Russian influence and the war in Ukraine. Even if the Ukraine war ends we're hardly likely to suddenly start buying gas from Russia anytime soon. The Russians know this and beyond nuclear weapons it's their key lever to holding the world to ransom.
People really do think that we'll vote in a Labour government and suddenly inflation will be 0% and our £250pm bills will go back to £100pm but it's not going to happen. Nothing whatsoever is going to change, we need to bed in for the long haul because like it or not what people forget is that we're essentially at war with a major superpower.
The impact of this war is huge and even the risk of nuclear war has never been higher. We can't all sit here and moan about how expensive stuff is and just expect it to go away via a change of government.
