It is staggering how people didn't appreciate that being a gateway into Europe was the thing that made us attractive to so many other countries. If ever a country poked itself in the eye with a sharp stick it was us.

Frustratingly we have to wait this out till 2024 when really they should have called an election when we ended up with 3 prime ministers in the space of a few months. Two more years of damage inflicted on the country and no plan for growth, all they are doing is trying to hang onto their MPs salary for doing sod all.

Chester is hardly a grim industrial city where you expect Labour to win every time. It was tory in 2010 and Labour won it back by 43.2 vs 43.1 in 2015. And the former Labour MP resigned with a scandal so that seat should be fairly reflective of tory chances in general.

A 61 vs 22 result will give the members plenty to ponder.
