Define ‘a lot’ please.Anyone earning less than 25k will still be a lot better off though due to the rise in the minimum wage, so some income groups will see a proper increase in take home pay.

Does that include the tax rise on those earning less than 25K that comes in the form of nor raising the tax threshold at least by the rate of inflation?Anyone earning less than 25k will still be a lot better off though due to the rise in the minimum wage, so some income groups will see a proper increase in take home pay.

8.89%.Define ‘a lot’ please.
Anyone seen this?
Of course the minimum wages should go up with inflation as most peoples wages have and should, nothing to do with tax though, thats just a spokescreen, which for many has gone up as the government refuse to increase thresholds with inflation. For someone on the minimum wage, working 40 hours a week, the increase in the wage rate - before the cut in NI - equates to a 7.7% increase in take home pay.
With the cut in NI, the rise in the minimum wage will lead to a 8.9% in take home pay.
If they had done both the cut in NI and indexed the tax free allowance in line with September CPI, that would lead to a 10.2% rise in take home pay for the same person.
The lack of indexation reduces take home pay by 250 pound a year, but the person’s take home pay still rises in the current circumstances by 1670 pounds a year.
I think anyone in that situation would genuinely welcome the increase, even if the sniffling middle classes on here don’t appear that impressed.
