Let's hope the public wise up.Sadly I think you are right, and the media are already in full attack mode on Labour, but this is the most unpopular government I can remember in my 55 years on this earth.

The media is where this is at and can make the matter much worse. I’m not sure of the full script from the Azhar Ali debacle but what I had seen was atrocious. How the media spun it, not bringing it to the fore until he couldn’t be removed from the ballot, was used to maximum effect, putting Labour on the back foot. Not only that, they only gave the party some of what had been said which allowed Ali to make the apology. Once they thought that was dealt with, the media then went back to Labour with stuff that is reported to be even worse, leaving them no option to make the ‘decisive’ cut.In a way its been a useful exercise in helping to flush out more of the problem. The Rochdale candidate will likely win but then get deselected so will only serve as an MP for a few months.
A total disaster for him. A good warning to all others and a reminder to the grassroots they need to be vigilant and get on top of these issues before the press release them at the worst possible time.
Hilts, can I just confirm that you have always been a Green voter or has this been a change since the fall of the other parties? As a green voter these results are very depressing. The reform votes are complicating things for both Labour and especially the Tories.
Not sure what the point of the lib dems are anymore. In the current climate with this govt and post brexit they can't pick protest votes.
They already have done. There's only so many times you can treat people like twats.Let's hope the public wise up.
You have to expect that conduct from the press. There will be loads of dirt currently being sat on for both parties waiting for the right time. The media is where this is at and can make the matter much worse. Now, I don’t think this serious issue has been handled well but overall, and now seeing the bigger picture, it’s quite clear that the reporting of this was planned and executed perfectly to maximise damage to the Labour Party. And, to be truthful, Labour should not be focussing on how the media have portrayed it, but instead look at the cause of the incident and those who, in the closed, smoke filled rooms, as they used to say, still have this kind of attitude. Including those that are willing to record it and leak it to the media rather than the report it to the party.
Not just the most unpopular government but the shittest government to boot.Sadly I think you are right, and the media are already in full attack mode on Labour, but this is the most unpopular government I can remember in my 55 years on this earth.
The ones that have made from this era will be there, the Mrs Bouquets of this world will be too busy ‘Making Appearances’ that they are still in a good position but will be seething about where the party have left them. Probably still go but will spoil it in defiance.A lot of the Tory vote stayed at home from the looks of it. Do we think they'll do that in a GE?
That's how it works. Core voters always vote. The fringes is where its one or lost.A lot of the Tory vote stayed at home from the looks of it. Do we think they'll do that in a GE?
