The Conservative Party

Why is the economy fucked / flatlining ? Is it just the UK? If so, surely Labour can fix it?

They probably have another fully costed plan to enrich the country, but not in the first 4 years where they will blame the Tories and scratch each others eyes out.

The economic figures released today are good - I welcome them. Strong performance across nearly all sectors. One of the lesser scrutinised data points which is really important is that this is the first per capita GDP growth in 2 years. This is important because the average GDP per capita when paired with the purchasing power of GBP has gone down about 8-9% since 2007. We've been growing but not enough to offset the increase in population. So in the context of the world economy your average Brit is 9% worse off than they were over 15 years ago pre-GFC.

Realistically people aren't going to feel one quarter of growth in their pockets, it needs to be sustained. If it is sustained, then you can start to consider that this is because the government is doing something right rather than random statistical noise. We will wait and see if that's the case. As it is they will no doubt claim credit for this while distancing themselves from the fact we entered recession in the first place, which is of course bollocks, you're either responsible for both or neither.

Starmer’s only has two choices, blame the tories as to why he can’t be a socialist or be a socialist.

The first one might buy him some grace but I’ll be surprised if he can keep a lid on things for a second term without showing far more socialist tendencies.

I suppose there is the third option, he can always just be the Tory he currently is.

Personally I am going to belay my concerns and vote for him and see what he comes up with, whatever the outcome it's going to be an interesting GE when the Tory lite take power and the infighting begins.

I'm all for change though as long as it isn't too radical.
