The Conservative Party

I'm guessing that right now Johnson would like to bin Brexit off completely or at the very least continue closely aligned. After all Brexit was only ever a means to an end for him. he knows how fundamentally stupid it is.

The problem for him is that any pragmatic moves to stay close to the EU and thus protecting our economy and the GFA will enrage the Brexit ultras in his party and they will likely try to remove him as leader.

The phrase 'rock and a hard place' spring to mind. I guess he will do whatever he thinks is best for Boris which, of course, is what he always does.

Once again the future of the country is dependent on infighting in the Tory Party.

What a fucking mess !

Fully agree. The terms of a hard deal are there and they are threatening to rip the party in two. The head bangers hate it as it basically exchanges LPF provisions for SM access. Ingnore anything on fishing as its irrelevant. This was always going to be the end game when you stick to the red lines. We want SM access but we also want to do free trade deals with other countries. That is always going to end up in a bureaucratic nightmare as the Eu are not going to open a backdoor. So there will be a mass of red tape and rules that we will have to implement and we will wreck our customs operations all in order to be able to do these trade deals. But most will be no better than what we had even the US deal has little in it for us. The Tories know it they have backed themselves into a corner and this shit deal is the only way out. The brexit loons will never accept reality and they will want no deal.

I think the deal is inevitable as the head bangers have never had the numbers to get their way - they will have to lump it as they don't have the guts to leave. But they will cause as much chaos as they can.

The same headbangers that will complain about the fallout from out shit deal, proclaiming that no deal would have been better/not had the same issues. I thought the bonus of such a stonking majority would mean being able to shuffle these cunts into the background, but alas, we've put them front and center. Good work Bojo.

The standard response to any issue from a hard core brexiteer is to Blame the EU, blame the UK government for lacking conviction and ultimately to propose an even harder more severe form of brexit.

These are the ones that have insisted on the red lines and blocked any kind of moderate / pro business brexit. They are the reson we are where we are yet these people will never be satisfied.

There's an effective yet simple tactic to deploy for people you know will never be satisfied; Stop trying. Pandered to these extremist loons long enough.

Two key players in Boris's inner circle gone in less than 48 hours, all this talk of a power struggle makes little sense to me. What power are they struggling for?

There must be some big reason for such drastic changes being made, i suspect we will start to hear some stories coming out in the next few weeks.

Maybe the figures they are seeing regarding Covid are meaning the current strategy is wrong.

The change in strategy will see some posters explode in another thread.

I don't trust the **** to be doing it purely for "I wanna be next PM" reasons.

That's how cynical this government has made me.

I know what you mean but in a multi cultural society this should be the norm - I have no doubt Dr Gammons and Lewis's sidekick will have an alternative view of it though - probably label it virtue signalling rather than understanding its cultural significance.

I fully agree mate.

This is what happens if you displease them - they get client journalists to do a hatchet job on you. The kid is investing in his future not flouting Covid safety procedures.

The Mail really are fucking scum.

The real politics of envy is always from those at the top aimed at those who rise from the bottom and especially if the person who has rose from the bottom is a working class kid from a council estate who happens to look a bit different to their own social circle.

Their idea of "luxury homes" stinks as well.

Here's the editor's modest house (comes with four "estate houses") - total cost £4million

Do you think this is the mail supporting the govt with a hatchet job? I think they are just reverting to type and objecting to a young black person being successful and having money just as they did with Raz. Implicit rather than explicit racism.
I don't think neccessarily think printing the article is evidence of much more than their eagerness to appeal the readership's taste for reading about rising property values and the thirst for that curious admiration and jealousy they feel upon inferring the owner's status.

Not all Daily Mail readers have a thing where Friday nights are all about that 20 minutes of missionary with the spouse whilst dreaming what it would be like to own several 400k properties. But everyone whose Friday nights are about that 20 minutes of missionary with the spouse whilst imagining what life would be like if they owned several 400k properties reads the Daily Mail.

Political meeting, and Tory candidate in full flow suddenly shouts, "Are we going to take this lying down?"

Voice from the back, "No, there's a hack from the Daily Mail doing that".

Cummings is gone and this straight away. Trying to build bridges? If so then sorry but this should be Johnson not this bellend
