The wastage of cash in the public sector on infrastructure and technology is shocking.
Local council to me spent £200k having some multinational earthworks firm dig 2 miles of open ditches in a field next to a country road. The local Dave the builder and his boys would have done the same for probably a 10th of the price. Sharing the wealth. It’s not corruption (mostly) it’s just laziness where they don’t treat the money like it’s their own and these big firms know they can basically charge whatever they like so long as it vaguely looks like before.
It’s the same working for large businesses, we had an floor relocation (our entire team was moving something like 4 rows of desk back). Cost was around £1800 each person to shift computer, set of drawers and phone board. I said shove an extra £100 in our pay and we’ll do it ourselves. Needless to say they happily paid the £1800.
Did Dave and the boys tender for the work?

Of course not mate. They don’t have the right certificates for highway work or whatever barriers they put in place for this stuff.
In fairness one of my builder mates has quoted for some parish council work on a nature reserve so at least he is in with a shout but that’s only because he is the only one around here that does this type of composite work

Honestly, anyone that voted Tory need to have a fucking solid look at themselves.
It amazes me that, in an apart civilised country, the level of corruption that is going on has not had any sort of legal ramifications. How literally billions of pounds of public money going to privately educated friends whilst families up and down the country struggle like fuck.
Are they that fucking stupid that they actually believe that Bojo would be beneficial to this country? Or, more likely, they are so far up their own pasty white arses that they only give a shit about anyone or anything and are devoid of a moral compass.
Its obviously either pure ignorance and stupidity or a blatant disregard for anyone along as their investments are sound. Fuck the rest.

Just a crazy idea but you might find it more enlightening to ask them rather than just insult them. However angry you might be.
The tories promised to occupy the centre ground, Labour wanted to go back to the 1970s left. To win and retain power in this country you need to occupy the centre ground at least that’s been the case for the last 4 decades.
Despite the horror stories you’ve read and been told Tory voters by and large don’t want hungry kids, or corruption, they want an equitable benefits system where people like @Ifwecouldjust....... are actually properly taken care of, nor do they want a privatised NHS. They hate racism as much as the next person and don’t mind immigration either. Surprisingly not dissimilar to most Labour voters. What they don’t like is big government they tend to believe that the individual is king or queen and big government creates dependency of the individual on state. They believe the individual is better at spending money (and spreading wealth amongst the many) rather than government.
You’ll find them on Facebook complaining about “benefit scroungers” generally not because they hate the needy but because they will see people who can contribute to the system not doing so. They believe in the system and a principle of “those that can, do, and those that can’t are supported”.
They’re really not the enemy, make friends with one today #adopt-a-tory.

I agree but it's really strange to me that people could not see that Johnson and chums were by far the worst option at the last election.
However much of a prat I think Corbyn is I believe him to be a well meaning prat, whereas Johnson on the other hand only cares for himself. This is clearly evident under the most cursory of scrutiny.

And I do understand that and it’s perfectly sensible, we’ve all seen rogue builders. But this leaves a lack of competition being limited to the big nationals who probably stitch up the pricing over a bottle of dom perignon or 5.
Dave only wants to earn a decent living he doesn’t have any shareholders to satisfy and a management structure that also needs paying. He’ll be cheaper even if he does electrocute himself in the process. Ultimately the job gets done but that extra cash can always be spent somewhere else.

I do agree Corbyn was sincere and true to his beliefs but those beliefs belong in a different time. He was entirely impotent however and would have drowned in this crisis.
I think this country will undergo a seismic shift and we often see a rise in one nation-ism after monumental events. Boris calls himself a one nation Tory, once this is over let’s see it. Next election is won by whoever convinces us the most be it one nation conservative or one nation Labour.
