The Conservative Party

I think in the scramble for protection procurement officers were throwing money out like confetti, and there were countless happy recipients.

Fully agree. I’ve said on here many times on here that companies should be taxed 100% on excess profits - they did similar in WW1 when people profiteered off of it. They won’t do it of course but they should.

No, George was a bit better Esther is very involved locally.
In fairness, she has precious little else to do now. She threw her hat into the leadership ring in 2019, came last, and was summarily removed from her Ministerial position as soon as Johnson could do it. Not a criticism of her, just an observation that MPs tend to become more focused on constituency matters when it's no longer possible to climb the pole. It's one of the reasons I've always advocated dual MPs per constituency (one serving in Westminster one week and then serving in the Constituency next).

Agree with that Tatton suffered with Osborne having little time to devote to constituency matters his office were OK but lacked the clout of an MP. Bell came in (before George) but apart from trying to stop runway 2 did little.

In 2020, Johnson did say that new laws were needed to counter such profiteering, but they quickly rowed back from that position to 'not an immediate concern'. Doubt they could do anything before the public inquiry anyway.

Less about the industries involved in supplying mass equipment in WW1, more individual companies, but you might find this amusing/interesting:

Once it was evident that Labour had won, Bell should probably have stood down and allowed the seat to be recontested. He rarely spoke in Parliament either.

I posted on here a long time ago that Johnson was dangerous, he is now Mussolini, he is behind this gangsterism, the only difference is Mussolini got the trains to run on time.

He has allowed the Tories to once again become the party of sleaze and corruption. When challenged he uses gangsterism to try and cover it up.

The worst PM this nation has ever had, leading a party full of self serving cunts. The left are often accused of hating this country, but hating the country is taking the piss out of the people in this country and Johnson and his pals are taking the piss out of each and everyone of us. Still though though their will be apologists for him and his gang of piss takers.

The lying narcissist has to go, he is an embarrassment.

It’s funny how you never see any of our resident tories on this thread when there’s another shambles taking place in their party.
It’s almost like they don’t give a fuck how bad it gets as long as they win elections.
I’m sure that’s not the case though and they are as disgusted with them as the rest of us for once again making the U.K. a laughing stock.
Nah, only messing, I know they don’t give a fuck how bad they are really. Probably half the reason they voted them in in the first place.
Big Bozzer must be making you proud these days eh @worsleyweb

The Dept for Falsehoods and Lies has been hard at work.

‘The government's original analysis of the Australia trade deal would've shown a negative impact on Northern Ireland. But officials have now changed their workings, so now it will show a positive impact

Very interesting article. I’m fascinated by the propaganda of both the wars.

Yep.

I'm not a fan of the Daily Heil.

Maybe they have a friendly MP eyeing up his job?

This is my shocked face...

Boris Johnson’s spokesman repeatedly refuses to deny on the record that the prime minister offered Owen Paterson a peerage yesterday, or plans to give him one in the future.‘ @BylineTimes

Meanwhile, Lord Wolfson of Tredegar (was he in game of thrones?) is objecting to making taking photos of women breastfeeding without consent illegal because he’s worried about the knock on effect on family pornography.

Someone needs to confiscate his hard drive.

Madness, who are these people?

I'm reminded of the guy responding to a survey on breastfeeding in public. "I'm in favour, but there's always a tiny little head in the way".

You want a spokesperson to rule out his chances to be able to clear his name in the future and then, potentially, be granted a peerage? Weird.

The question should have been to ask if the PM is planning on currently giving him a peerage. The future is untold for everyone.
