What is so remarkable about the film is its perversity. Normally, you have to take the blinkers off to see how ideology works. But in this movie you put them on.

Still prefer Dark Star, though. The unfailingly cheerful, solipsistic talking bomb in that film is something else.
 
The tory cunts nearly, single handedly, wiped out our entire pension funds in an afternoon and yet chippy still sees fit to defend the wank stains,amazing mental gymnastic skills.

Starmer’s long established position was to remain in the European Medicines Agency. Several Labour shadow ministers criticised Johnson at the start of the pandemic for remaining outside of the EU vaccine scheme.

At the risk of derailing this fast moving thread, I could talk a while about John Carpenter movies.
Assault on Precinct 13 is a brilliant movie too. I saw him play live in Manchester a few years ago.
Halloween is a low budget masterpiece but it's not the 'scares' that make that a great movie, but the cinematography, the music, the creativity on a shoestring and the input from Debra Hill (hence the strong female roles).
They Live is on my film list to rewatch.....seems so much more apt now (although certain nefarious groups used it for their own 'causes:

The UK was under the remit of the EMA at the time of the vaccine rollout. You are referring to the EU procurement scheme.

Johnson reneged on promises to share the AZ vaccine, after the EU provided vaccines for the UK initial rollout. This caused the initial shortfall in Europe, but that was resolved by the second quarter.

The final upshot to all this was AZ pissed off the EU and they in turn gave preference to other vaccines which pretty much scuppered AZ and the vaccine. The EU is one of the biggest medical regulators and exporters in the world, so giving the UK a preferential contract was not the brightest decision.

Most European countries caught up, and some overtook, the UK on the vaccine rollout despite our head start.
