No, and to be frank, this is Bluemoon, a football forum open to all not just those who consider education to be evidence of intelligence. I would rather read a poorly worded post packed with information and enthusiasm than a well-crafted paragraph of abuse.
I hate the grammar police, I hate the oneupmanship of it all, and I'll leave it there.

I think you'll find it's "one-upmanship".

;)

This is why no-one (especially a fallible human being) should even get involved with it! :-)

One would hope that wasn't a direct quote from Wikipedia. Please let's not reduce ourselves to using acronyms too. I thought for a moment there may have been an opportunity for some intelligent debate.

I don't pretend to be educated, I left school in 1980 at 16 with 2 'O' Levels and 2 CSE's and never been near a university. However, that doesn't mean I have to alter my language to be understood by the lowest common denominator. I made my original post regarding a comment about parking a car and spending £40 in a pub on a matchday and driving home. Sadly, it descended into the farce that it did. Similarly, I would much rather spend time with old friends in a Manchester pub on a sunday afternoon than an expensive 63rd floor wine bar with the Beijing intellegentia but, again that doesn't mean I have to pretend to be illeterate on here just to fit in or accept abuse from bullies on here that can't even spell.

Furthermore, on a point I made that was missed amid all the screeching, it does worry me that the UK appears to be in steep decline in many ways while other parts of the world are racing ahead and their people are desperate to learn about and embrace new cultures and languages. People here care about and take seriously how they address people and that focus is carried throughout everything they do. Meanwhile, our future and even current adult population are more concerned with who's going to win X Factor or how many friends they have on facebook whilst txtng thr m8s. If I choose not to reduce myself to that standard and make my living away from that cesspit I will and I shouldn't have to accept being vilified on here for being able to spell correctly.

I'm 46, we would've both measured everything in metric in school and that was thirty years ago FFS!

There are lot's of people here to have intelligent debate with and even more Manchester United supporters to argue the finer points of English football with than there are back at home in Manchester but one thing stands out which is a little worrying for the future of our great country is the ability of the average Chinese person to speak and write English better than the majority of posters on this forum. The word is offence by the way, I despair sometimes really!

lot's? lot's? FFS, take this poster out and have him shot immediately - but only after pointing out that punctuation free 70+ word sentence...

Have a word with yourself. How old did you say you were?

Well if he's in China i hope he has someone to pay for the bullet!

P.s. I thought the intelligent folk in China are usually behind bars after the state have made up some trumped up charge? I'm sure Liu Xiaobo could tell you that? If it gets past the internet censorship that is? :)

you might not be educated but you are def. confused. you talk about"our future" then call the country a "cesspit" whilst in an earlier post you point out you may be back to watch city at xmas-presumably when you,ll be assisting the police in monitoring drink-drivers on grey mare lane....do us all a favour and stay in bejing.

Do you multiply the price of a litre of petrol by 4.54 to get a rough estimate of the price per gallon to make sure you're getting the best price or do you rely on the price per litre? If you look closely at the stuff in your fridge and kitchen cupboards you'll see you buy lots of things in grammes and not lbs or ounces anymore. I have absolutely no idea what you do for a living but would be very surprised if you're still dealing in pints or inches any longer. Sadly, although you'd like to think you don't use the metric system I'm afraid you do, everyday probably.
