i think that just about sums it all upDubai Blue said:A few thoughts:joolsbikini said:If I choose not to reduce myself to that standard and make my living away from that cesspit I will and I shouldn't have to accept being vilified on here for being able to spell correctly.
a). If you truly believe England to be a 'cesspit', don't bother spending your Christmas holidays there.
b). You weren't vilified for being able to spell correctly. Quite the opposite, in fact; it was you vilifying other members for not writing their posts in perfect English, even calling one a 'thick twat' (a banning offence, I may point out). You were 'vilified' for needlessly acting like a petty, argumentative 12-year-old child who's just been taught a few oh-so-witty faux-intelligent put downs by his arrogant, yet ultimately emotionally unfulfilled English teacher.
c). Just accept that you read Marco's original post wrong and thought he was spending £40 at the pub on his own rather than between a group of people. Then we can get on with discussing how shit Mary D's is.

I'm sure you will give me the courtesy of replying to your thoughts before everyone get's back to discussing Mary D's.
a). I have family and friends in and around Manchester and London and that is why I am returning at Christmas. Oh and to be able to see City too.
b). If calling someone a thick twat on here is a banning offence then surely calling someone an interfering c*nt must be too? As for witty put downs, you've just taken my mantle right there fella! Didn't you like school?
c). I didn't misread Marco's original post at all, whether you spend £10 in a pub or £40, my point was that if you're going to have a few pints at the game it's best to leave your car at home in my opinion. His flippant reply was when the whole thread descended into name calling nonsense and lots of other people decided to jump on the bandwagon and be big, hard cyber bullies. I was merely defending my right to have my opinion.
You were having an opinion on something that was completely irrelevant. Only you made the ridiculous assumption that Marco must drink and drive from his original post, and only you took his clearly sarcastic reply as confirmation. It was quite clear what he meant but you obviously fancied a bit of an argument. I just hope you're in a better mood today.joolsbikini said:I was merely defending my right to have my opinion.

However, that doesn't mean I have to alter my language to be understood by the lowest common denominator. I made my original post regarding a comment about parking a car and spending £40 in a pub on a matchday and driving home. Sadly, it descended into the farce that it did. Similarly, I would much rather spend time with old friends in a Manchester pub on a sunday afternoon than an expensive 63rd floor wine bar with the Beijing intellegentia but, again that doesn't mean I have to pretend to be illeterate on here just to fit in or accept abuse from bullies on here that can't even spell.
Furthermore, on a point I made that was missed amid all the screeching, it does worry me that the UK appears to be in steep decline in many ways while other parts of the world are racing ahead and their people are desperate to learn about and embrace new cultures and languages. People here care about and take seriously how they address people and that focus is carried throughout everything they do. Meanwhile, our future and even current adult population are more concerned with who's going to win X Factor or how many friends they have on facebook whilst txtng thr m8s. If I choose not to reduce myself to that standard and make my living away from that cesspit I will and I shouldn't have to accept being vilified on here for being able to spell correctly.
I do think you jumped the gun a bit accusing the guy of drink driving. Even asking the question was insinuating that was what you thought the guy had done. Plus it is legal to have a 'drink' and drive. However, I understand your point, I'm just not sure this was the most appropriate medium for making your thoughts on the matter clear.
But on your above points, you're unfortunately right about the downaward direction this country is going and the way in which you've been attacked on here is indicative of the nation as a whole I'm afraid to say. Very little respect for other people and their opinions and all very childish.
Don't like to see people being victimised for expressing what is a valid opinion. Good luck in your endeavours in China, hope it works out for you.
