c). Just accept that you read Marco's original post wrong and thought he was spending £40 at the pub on his own rather than between a group of people. Then we can get on with discussing how shit Mary D's is.

a). I have family and friends in and around Manchester and London and that is why I am returning at Christmas. Oh and to be able to see City too.

I don't pretend to be educated, I left school in 1980 at 16 with 2 'O' Levels and 2 CSE's and never been near a university. However, that doesn't mean I have to alter my language to be understood by the lowest common denominator. I made my original post regarding a comment about parking a car and spending £40 in a pub on a matchday and driving home. Sadly, it descended into the farce that it did. Similarly, I would much rather spend time with old friends in a Manchester pub on a sunday afternoon than an expensive 63rd floor wine bar with the Beijing intellegentia but, again that doesn't mean I have to pretend to be illeterate on here just to fit in or accept abuse from bullies on here that can't even spell.

Furthermore, on a point I made that was missed amid all the screeching, it does worry me that the UK appears to be in steep decline in many ways while other parts of the world are racing ahead and their people are desperate to learn about and embrace new cultures and languages. People here care about and take seriously how they address people and that focus is carried throughout everything they do. Meanwhile, our future and even current adult population are more concerned with who's going to win X Factor or how many friends they have on facebook whilst txtng thr m8s. I do think you jumped the gun a bit accusing the guy of drink driving. Even asking the question was insinuating that was what you thought the guy had done. Plus it is legal to have a 'drink' and drive. However, I understand your point, I'm just not sure this was the most appropriate medium for making your thoughts on the matter clear.

But on your above points, you're unfortunately right about the downaward direction this country is going and the way in which you've been attacked on here is indicative of the nation as a whole I'm afraid to say. Very little respect for other people and their opinions and all very childish.

Don't like to see people being victimised for expressing what is a valid opinion. Good luck in your endeavours in China, hope it works out for you.

With regards this country, he is absolutely bang on.

He's actually more qualified to pass judgement in terms of him being able to draw a comparison in other areas of the world, than many.

All countries have their problems, what we now seemingly appear to have in Britain is a systematic dumbing down, largely contributed to out of laziness and a degree of self-entitlement.
