The dentist

The three "lost" teeth were broken not out all together so they were included in the eight, part of the reason for building me up over the three weeks was to get my new teeth ready to be fitted as soon as the others were removed, they are on a pallet for now and when I get home from my trip I'm going to have permanent one's put in.
Are these implants ? Can I ask the price?

Dentist are getting younger and greedier, our surgery doing its best to strike people off and since COVID pushing private work.
I had my check up last week and he put up a display screen and said what he could do to give me a better smile - cost £8K, NHS dentist mind, I know I chewed out a filling a while back, no that's stable si if I refill it it would only come back out - shocking.
Clean and polish, no don't do that as standard anymore but £45 and I can do it.
This country has worked fantastic over the past 40 years teaching kids about tooth hygiene and most kids have smashing teeth ( child of the fifties so never looked after mine as well I wish I had)
These kids can't afford the prices being asked so what the future holds I don't know.

No NHS dentists taking on any new patients now in the Blackpool/Fleetwood area. I'm registered with one from way back and they're good as I have to attend every 6 months. Result my teeth are decent. But if your teeth aren't red hot - then you're pushed to go private with all the additional costs. I know the government contracts with NHS dentists could be improved (eg - 3 fillings are paid the same amount as one - but still).

Bloody hell.... Just realised that this is another one of those 11 year thread bumps!

:-/
@Lavinda Past disgraceful. You may want to visit the brand new 'Are International Breaks Worse Than the etc. thread.

It isn't 11 years old and it is far more interesting.

(Other interesting threads are available for you to visit, as is my mum although she may not be so interesting, she's 88.)

I don’t think anyone could say they look forward to going. My dentist recently went private so it’s not so much of a production line. I decided to have 4 Crowns done and whilst on a roll I thought I would have some cosmetic work done. He was reluctant to work on what he saw was healthy teeth and talked me out of it. I hate going so now I am no longer on the NHS list I will leave it until a tooth gives me grief. So until something goes wrong I know I am likely to stay away.

I'm no expert mate but I think that's a mistake.

We go to the University dental (no charge) and when I started going I hadn't been for about 5 years.
3 teeth had decay and the Prof in charge said if I'd left it another year I could've lost those teeth, as it was the managed to save them and decay removed and filled.

I know you have heard it before mate but here it is anyway. Having bad teeth can cause a myriad of other medical problems and for the sake of a couple of hours of terror you'd feel a lot better.

I am what you would call a nervous patient and my dentist surgery know full well that whilst in the chair I am on a hairline, because they know this they numb the area even for a check up and I am more than pleased for them to drill my face off to get things right.
