This season is a case of history repeating, abject / gutless performances from a team that we're champions the previous year.

Last time We had a tactically astute defensive manager with an abrasive man management style. This time we have an easy going, friend of the players, who has a set system and a supposed attacking mindset.

Both were hamstrung by poor signings and a failure to re invigorate a title winning squad the year after.

I think Pellers will now meet the same fate as Mancini, however the players need to take the responsibility. Yaya who I have previously stood up for (because of previous seasons heroics) needs to go and should never where the shirt again, disinterested and apathetic in every way.

Ultimately the team spirit and togetherness of the group has gone (again) it seems the only realistic remedy is sacking Pellers. If we could realistically sack or sell half the first 11 I think that would achieve more.

Sorry for long rambling post, just thoroughly pissed off that we were tattered by a distinctly average scum team, because half the team just can't be arsed running, let alone organising themselves into a coherent team.

Drop some big names and give the squad and youth team players a chance! Ctid

At this stage of that season we still had it in us to beat Chelsea at Wembley and make a cup final.

This season has been a fucking disgrace.

I agree this season is probably worse, do you think sacking the manager will solve the problems?

I'm not sure there is anyone available that is much better

Shocking effort today, to many players living on past reputations, time for action, remove the manager get some hungry players in, Berahino Kane Henderson Stones Townsend make big joe captain all british and quality managed by Brendan Rodgers, can see the rags dominating again with Van Gaal in control, god knows whats goona happen in the summer when they get the cheque book out

We never win at home and we never win away..
We lost last week and we lost today..
We don't give a fuck coz we're all pissed up..
MCFC.... Ok.
Listen, today was their cup final, it used to be ours but now it's theirs, and they had to spend a shite load of cash yo catch up with us, they're only 4 pts in front of us, fuck me you'd think they won the league today..
When is he open top bus parade?
The rag softarses had a plane up for wee davy this time last year, this year the whole lot of them have come out the woodwork coz they're above us in the league.. How funny Is that?
It was coming today, they had to beat us one day, someday on here said 4-2 is a drubbing..... Nah nah nah nah 6-1 is a drubbing my friend.
Let them gloat, let them laugh, we've had our fun with them, we ain't going away for a long long time.

Lot's of people expecting a big shake up in the summer need to take note that most of those 12 average signings (bar Lampard) are on 4 year contracts.

Completely agree with the above. Our performance at a strategic level has been woeful ever since our first Title. But before we go and rely on the cheque book as the answer I think we should take a closer look at today and the lessons to learn. This afternoon we were well beaten regardless of refereeing decisions by effectively the same players who we demolished last season. For all of their spending the starting line up of the rags this afternoon didn't include ANY of their big name signings in the summer. Only two, Harrera and Blind started today but the difference wasn't the players. The difference was the shape, the discipline, the understanding and desire of how to win the game and as a result of the previous their belief and desire.

This comes from the manager and not the cheque book.

How much did we get for Rodwell and Garcia ?

The original post is spot on, and yes we did bring in money for Rodwell and Garcia which has helped our finances, but we aren't getting value for money for the cash we spend. I agree that some players need to be moved on and despite them having four year deals, then we can still sell some of these players because they are in demand across Europe despite what we think about them. Square pegs in round holes is how our team is setup. We have counter attacking wingers who play in a possession based team. We have cultured strikers who are at best on the counter attack and we had a well drilled defensive unit that has got worse over the last four years. Some players have come to the end of their time with us, our manager will not play the team in front of him but only sets the team up one way and when it unravels he can't do anything different. The team is looking more disjointed as time goes on, and having possession doesn't mean we are winning games. Even Aguero has been poor since he came back from injury and hasn't been scoring the goals he was at the beginning of the season until today. Hart still struggles with some aspects of his game, especially passing the ball out. Toure is a class player but we have said for a year or two that defence isn't his strongest point.

I can't blame Soriano unless he is the only man responsible for Txiki's appointment. And I don't think Txiki has done a bad job on moving players on and stop the club being taken for a ride on selling players. Where Txiki is culpable is in overpaying for "average" players who don't necessarily fit into a system of play which can maintain success in the English league. The blame for this comes down to both Berigistan and Pellegrini for me. The system we play and the personnel we employ in each position is either in the wrong place or lacks some of the attributes required. Some just don't have the heart to play in the Premier league and go missing too easily, others lack the skill for the role they are given.

If we can ship out 3 or 4 and bring in at least two top quality players and two very good ones then we can come back stronger next season but

4 wins in 13 with this set of players?

I reckon a non league manager could have achieved that.

What is it with all these 'I knew we'd lose' - well if you 'knew' fuck off!!!

I've been to that shit hole when we've had journeymen plAying for us and they still gave a better account of themselves - that lot today were a disgrace!!!
