The Derby Post Match Thread

right, we go there with our 2 best players out and they can't beat us...only had 1 chance in the match....it has to be a bloody good point away from home so forget all the "Bony was shite" stuff, sometimes you just have to grind out a result and we did that today
thats about the size of it

Away to a title challenger without Silva and Aguero, getting a draw and going back to the top of the league. You can't complain at that really.

Much better result from our point of view than United's. They couldn't beat us when they were at home and we were without Silva/Aguero.

Back to the top of the league is key here. Now let's get the two best players in the league back fit.
Good post - united failed massively today. Watch the pundits sulk and moan for the next 24 hours. They expected City to open up today and we didn't . We kept things quite tight.
Good result under the circumstances .

Tough game and we didn't lose. Creatively we were poor and bony had a bloody stinker. All in all I'll take that but a little disappointed as they are poor and we should be beating them. We miss kun and Dave badly.

The lack of quality in this league for all the money everyone has spent is embarrassing. Turgid shit, at least we have an excuse with our best attackers missing though. They are awful!

Agreed in regards to the bigger sides, some of the smaller sides have spent it better, West Ham, Swansea, Leicester etc.

Yaya,De Bruyne, Bony and Sterling were all terrible. So I can understand going for a draw towards the end. It's clearly what United was aiming for as well. When they were in possesion going forward they just played the ball around no real threat. Just some quality flashes from Martial but other than that nothing.

Bony woeful? He didn't get a chance! No forward did.

LVG blew it and City went not to get beat

His passing was wank and he slowed up the play too much which killed our threat on the counter attack. He was so deep he might aswell have been playing midfield. I'm not expecting an Aguero-esque performance from him but he doesn't look like he's busting a gut for the team which is disappointing as you know kelechi would be chasing every lost cause.

So did I.

I think he's been mostly shite so far but he looked sharper v Seville & today looked like he has come to terms with the Premier League. Vinny was great.

Brilliant from Pellegrini today. Recognised that we were up against it with injuries & fatigue & that the rags would play a tactical game & didn't fall into the trap of naive football.

I think he could match anyone tactically if he wanted to.

A specialist player in Yaya's position today & City would have won. Wasted many opportunities.
That's how I saw today's game, too. I would add that I wish that Bony's movement was better. He left a lot of our players stranded while he took a position instead of moving to give them a better option.

Many a time Mourinho has gone to a title rival team and played for a draw then been hailed a genius.

Today's game shown me a few things;

1st - Pellegrini will grind results out. We went to Old Trafford knowing a point would return us to the top of the league and we were missing our two best players. The minute they brought Fellaini on he did the right thing by shoring us up.

2nd - We can never again play Yaya in the number 10 role. He was dreadful today as he was against Spurs.

3rd - They are the games United need to win. At home against a weakened title challenger who are there for the taking. Make no mistake, this was a much better result for us than them.

The only negative I would point out was Pellegrini's starting 11. I think he gave them far too much respect and should have started Navas with KDB behind the striker. We offered very little movement and were easy to play against. That said, you take Ozil and Sanchez out of Arsenal and they would struggle too.

All in all a good result for us.

Good post. Well summarised.

Well done Mark for finishing off your spray and not chucking it out when it got low.

That was a weird game to watch. I saw a different City today. Very disciplined, passing not great and not ambitious. But in the title big picture a point at old trafford which takes us to the top of the league, without our 2 best players, is satisfying. Otemendi + Kompany = very nice defence.

I'll take the draw. Top of the league on goal difference and the onus was on ManUre as the home team to win.

Otamendi was fuckin awesome and plaudits must go out to Kompany, Sagna, Fernandinho and Fernando. Looking at his display today, I'm beginning to wish we'd got Martial instead of Sterling. Sterling has a whole lot of improving to do and he's still young enough to fulfil his huge potential, but he needs to start living up to that potential sooner rather than later.

I've no complaints about our formation or starting personnel albeit I was surprised to see Toure taken off even though he was tiring and was the correct decision. The Rags have already started about how lucky we were, but like I've told them already, the onus was on them to force the pace and to win.

Onwards and upwards.....

Because I don`t agree with your comments how do you work that one out sunshine.Glad you`re happy with a shit point against a very mediocre team. Two points dropped for me and look at how many other Blues on here agree with me.
Still you carry on being happy.
far more agree with me clearly. You cant handle the pressure, thats not my fault. Missing our best players and that shite still cant break us down at home, fuck me. Were so far infront of them its untrue. Wenger or Moanrinho do what pelles just have and their tatical geniouses.

I think we were deserving of a point. We restricted them on their own turf to one single shot on target and that was in the 87th min.

Up the other end we were awful.
Opinions, of course, but I don't think we did deserve it. Let's be honest, they were marginally better first half, and completely outplayed us in the second. Fair enough, they failed to create anything, but that had as much to do with their own shortcomings. That's not to downplay how good Kompany and Otamedi were, but I don't think it was the great, disciplined defensive performance from the team as a whole that many are writing it up as. There was still a hell of a lot of space in front of our back four at times, and better teams would have made us pay. As it was, we were lucky with the chance that hit the bar.

I certainly agree that we were awful on the ball, though. In fact, awful doesn't come close - I can barely remember such an utterly clueless performance.

It was a good defensive drill for our defense, as per attack everyone was awful, debruyne in particular was very of color but its a good point considering the health of our squad, third game for same set of players in our attack within 8 days showed its effect today, kelachi needs to be shown faith, lad form a good partnership with sterling in preseason and has more hunger than bony
