You would find it on bricks if you did back in the day ...
People will Park Briscoe the night before?
Oh that’s interesting - I went to a Hundred match there a few weeks ago and used the shuttle bus from the station - but then discovered that it after the match it just went out into all the traffic with no dedicated bus route - the situation made worse by a road closure. It took an hour to get back to station - I would have happily walked, but wife cant quite manage that.Just for interest sake, the T20 cricket international yesterday at Edgbaston was an attempt at a Net Zero energy event*. All the car parks were closed and they were using bus shuttles from the train station to the ground. I’m actually up for that myself. I would go so far to make all public transport free on weekends in the GM region but ban cars completely.
*Sounds like the England team complied anyway.

Night matches will definitely be an issue for me when this goes ahead. I’ll have to sack them off.Yes it's night matches where there will be problems, generally because trams don't take people to their homes. A fair number still have to get a bus the other side.
The media were reporting that it was a success (judging by the long queues to board a shuttle) but I'm not sure that's what people who used it would be saying if they had long waits. As you say the problem is the roads are just clogged up and the buses just end up no faster than walking.Oh that’s interesting - I went to a Hundred match there a few weeks ago and used the shuttle bus from the station - but then discovered that it after the match it just went out into all the traffic with no dedicated bus route - the situation made worse by a road closure. Of course, with that sort of system also relies on good park and ride facilities, or reliable trains/buses from outside the area and people willing to change their car reliant habits.

It was the cars that caused the traffic chaos there, the buses were a decent idea just that you have to give them priority over other vehicles to make them work, which they overlooked. You mean like in Istanbul :) :). :)
Yep.The reporter who observed the queues and took a taxi.
But there certainly weren’t enough buses to copeIt was the cars that caused the traffic chaos there, the buses were a decent idea just that you have to give them priority over other vehicles to make them work, which they overlooked.
Sadly I don't think you'll be alone in that. I used to live night matches but now all I can think of is how I am going to get home, esp if I am in work the next day.Night matches will definitely be an issue for me when this goes ahead. I’ll have to sack them off.
I got the tram to Ashton for the first time on Saturday.
Made me chuckle. Only in the UK can a tram get held up in traffic!!

I can't imagine all the big wigs, players etc took the shuttle buses home, nor will ever do so. More do as we say for us plebs etc.
We know the dates for the cups and league around a year in advance though. Its not difficult to plan no gigs on nights where there are cup / league games planned. In the few instances where we don't know the dates the gigs will have a steady flow beforehand and then finish half an hour to an hour after the match. Will without doubt be clashes TV games for November, around 8 weeks away aren't sorted yet, CL & cup draws etc will cause havoc later this/next season....
Can you imagine (hehe) Take That cancelling the 14th night of their month long residency as we're playing Burton Albion in the Caribou Cup?
We'll see, dates of games change at very short notice sometimes & there's no way the venue will leave umpteen blank dates 'just in case' we may have a home game and that's even allowing for big name band tours being planned years in advance. We know the dates for the cups and league around a year in advance though. So that clashes with the idea of managing supporters leaving the area by offering food and drink to allow tram queues to shorten. We know the dates for the cups and league around a year in advance though. Thats exactly what they are planning there are more blank days than event days. There will be clashes but they will be limited to maybe a couple a season and day games / night gigs which won't cause issues. We'll see, dates of games change at very short notice sometimes & there's no way the venue will leave umpteen blank dates 'just in case' we may have a home game and that's even allowing for big name band tours being planned years in advance.
The amount of people staying for food and drink at night games is minimal. So that clashes with the idea of managing supporters leaving the area by offering food and drink to allow tram queues to shorten.
