The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

We know the dates for the cups and league around a year in advance though. Its not difficult to plan no gigs on nights where there are cup / league games planned. In the few instances where we don't know the dates the gigs will have a steady flow beforehand and then finish half an hour to an hour after the match.

This isn’t really true though is it?

We may know which week cup games are possible. But we don’t know whether they’re going to be Tuesday, Wednesday or even Thursday until very near the time, for midweek games.

For weekend games we have no idea if they’re going to be Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

For European games, we can’t even be sure which competition we’re going to be in a year in advance, let alone which days we’ll be playing.

If you were planning concerts for 2025 now and put a line through any dates where a City home game was not possible from August onwards, you’d probably be looking at about a dozen days tops.

The amount of people staying for food and drink at night games is minimal.
And that’s because people feel the need to leave early. It’s going to be difficult to convince them to stick around if 30 mins later another 20k start turning up expecting a tram. I think more fans will seek to leave games early myself on nights when it clashes with an arena event.

It is true, weekend games won't have any issues unless we get late night games which we have historically had very few of and even then we will know the gigs are on before confirming the matches. Avoiding the uefa games blanks off 16 x Tuesday to Thursday so 48 total out of 185 blank nights. Even if we add Tuesday and Wednesday domestic games in at say 10 x2 you are still only at 68 blanks out of 185. This is straight forward to plan for and exactly the way its being approached.

Main carparks will be fun,
will be booked up with concert goers months in advance,
no chance anyone for the football will get anywhere near,
even if the match is in the afternoon and concert in the evening

Wonder if there is a reason why Sky always pick the smaller grounds for Friday night games. They love Brentford, Palace, Luton etc on a Friday.

Depends what the Arena host also. There are daytime shows and evening shows for productions often aimed at children, Walking with Dinosaurs, Disney Princesses on Ice with high set up costs so there will be 4 shows over a weekend.

Stuff like tennis is on all day, boxing and MMA will start earlier around 5pm. If events were staggered on weekends there may be some chance of requesting to play away on the worst dates. It won't be easy to arrange though and once it gets to Jan if in two LC semis then one of the teams has a replay, all bets are off.
