The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

But who can blame them?
People just don’t want or need the hassle.
Not when they have to pay the ticket prices that
we have these days. It’s got to the point that going
to the match is more trouble and expensive than
it’s worth nowadays. No surprise if people just
bin it off and watch it on TV.
We go on public transport every game apart from the odd champs league game when my sister and her crew come and take us in their cars, its fuckin awful and slow and laborious, but I'v done it all my life including maine rd which was worse for where we lived, thank fk we moved back closer to our spiritual home in East Manc.

They haven't said when, but technically they could bring in the new restrictions the day after the end of the consultation period which is on 16th March 2023, if they do not get any objections to the proposed scheme.

However after looking at the size of the scheme and the vast area it covers, its going to cost a small fortune to paint all the new parking bays and install the signage to enable enforcement of the new restrictions.

In all likely hood, the new parking scheme will be in operation at the start of 23/24 season.

But we need to remember the scheme is currently only a " proposal" at the moment, if the council receive no objections to the proposals they will just implement the new scheme. However if the council receive an high number of objections they will need to be able to justify the new restrictions. If anybody is effected by the new restrictions they can log a comment and object to the scheme via the council website, but this needs to be done before 16th March 2023.

I've just completed the survey and lodged my objections to the new parking restrictions.
I can only advice anyone impacted by the new restrictions to complete it, as the more objections MCC receive, the less chance there is of it going ahead.

I’m going to contact the Council ombudsman tomorrow to see if I can register a complaint with them, on the grounds of lack of alternative provision

My attendance at matches has been hanging by a thread for a few years now.
Travelling to Manchester seems to take longer and longer every trip, and parking has always been a chore.
Leaving the car parks around the ground takes ages, and the official car parks at the stadium are a very poor joke.
These new parking restrictions will drive some regulars away from the gane (no pun intended), but the club won't care. They'll probably lay on luxury transport from the airport for tourists.

Almost certainly no s/c renewal for me next season, and I won't be paying ridiculous prices that they charge for the occasional match.
Arsenal In the cup was a 3 hr round journey for me to travel a total of 28 miles ! Absolutely ridiculous and one reason I binned the CL games off this season. The trains in this country are shite too so there is often no alternative. I park near Network rail now at the back of Piccadilly (costs about £3 I think) but it’s a fair old walk there and back so not for anyone with mobility issues.

I stand corrected. :-)

reading up, they suffered from corrosion (Lancia's of the Tram world...) and would have cost a fortune to fix.
Yeah, everytime a poor decision is made there is always a reason. BS politics and Joe Public suffers all the time.

Just my tuppence worth on MCC and these new parking restrictions.
A few years ago, just before the council extended the parking restrictions further up Briscoe Lane, I had a meeting with my local Councillor - June Hitchen about local neighbourhood problems.
The meeting was held at one of her clinics in the community centre at the top end of Briscoe Lane, near to the Post Office.
After I had finished discussing my problems with her,I mentioned about the proposals to extend the no parking zone further up Briscoe Lane - upto where Briscoe Lane Primary School is situated.
I mentioned that I park my car on that part of Briscoe Lane (near to Ten Acres Lane) and that it would be a chore for me to park elsewhere.
Her reply was that MCC didn't like football fans, and they would do everything they could to discourage them from parking near to The Etihad.
And from next season,it looks like her words are going to really take effect in the areas around the ground.
Spot on this. It's about restricting cars into the City and fuck all else.

If they were serious they would at least let electric cars in, not that I have one but many do.

The road I walk down, many will know it, Palmerston Street. Absolutely fuck all down there, 1 side a few houses other side nothing, massive wide road with parking bay along one side yet nothing can park there, Absolute fucking joke.
Too much trouble to cut the over hanging branches obcsuring the pavement or sweeping up the shit and autumn leaf fall etc though.
Fuck it i'm on a rant but I hate the neglect of our country and the persecution of normal folk going about their business!

Travelling to the Etihad Is going to get an whole lot worst in the near future, firstly the removal of all of the on street parking, along with the imminent closure/suspension of the metro line to Ashton in 2024.
It won't be the shitty reffing we constantly get, nor the attempt by Uefa and our own dear FArce to screw money out of us, neither will it be the PL attempts to ensure that the likes of the Dippers, the Rags, the Arse and 'Aringey 'Otspurs are given a leg up into the CL spots that will finally cause me to call it a day, but the travelling, parking in and out of Blue Car! It's the biggest ball ache that attaches to a match day. And public transport is no solution when tens of thousands are needing to use it!
