The English Pirlo. That man from Hastings

He is a good player. A very very good play as a matter of fact and he deserves more credit than he receives on here..

However if you are going to brand him the English Pirlo then he needs to believe in himself more and make those Pirlo passes!! Even Charlie Adams is closer to Pirlo than Gaz!

When was the last tyime Gaz gave a 30 yard pass to the flanks or switched sides with a beauty of a pass and so on??

The Dublin cup.

Pirlo has a fantastic range of passes which Barry doesn't possess. He dictates the pace of the game whereas Barry doesn't. However Barry is very underrated by a great many people because he is not dynamic. But if you have a brain you don't need to be dynamic to be effective. He keeps the ball moving and doesn't overcomplicate things. He's also great at going backwards which requires good discipline and concentration. It is strange that when you watch him you wonder what he does but when he's not there you realise what he brings.

That is true but firstly bar Fabregas,Xavi and Sahin no-one has the passing range of Pirlo and even then Pirlo still trumps then.

Secondly, Barry has by a distance the best range of passing in the city team.

Sabster. Not saying Barry doesn't have a good range of passes just that comparison with Pirlo is unfair. Pirlo is a master. But Barry has other strengths which some don't appreciate.

It's simple.

Most football fans in England require their midfielders to use constant vertical passing as they have grown up around a direct style of play. If they aren't constantly passing forward, or breaking legs in tackles, they cannot understand what their job on the pitch is thus conclude that they are shit. Carrick has the same problem at United yet both these guys are England regulars in Champions League teams and paid £100k+ a week.

Says a lot about English football.

Says a lot about English fans, you mean. Barry and Carrick couldn't exist in 1990, the only reason that they exist now is because of the changes to the game that Wenger, and more so Mourinho brought when he came over.
