it's not just the miserable mard arses

I wonder who is being miserable, the people that keep to themselves and watch the game they like to watch it, or the ones that are moaning about how another person doesn't support the team the way they would like them to.

The ones who moan from kick off through to the final whistle no matter the score!!

The fans let our team and manager down what a rubbish claim
You know you pays your money and you make your choices about how to behave at the match so its a pointlessness exercise blaming the fans what should do we do cough and plead guilty ? Turn up on Sunday and ask for Clemency? That will change nothing

the ironic thing about blowing off on blue moon and blaming the fans is that everyone knows if you have a scintilla of sense that's not the case and saying it wont make the poster feel better because next time we lose desire mass adulation from the fans the argument as GarryBarry said about the teams Europe performance will be found out

For the record I was there and it wasn't my fault we drew we let in two daft goals and made some very basic mistakes not worthy of professional players end off
just thought Id make that clear contra comments will attract the the attention from a lawyer

Yes you are right. Passionate support can help lift a team and spur them on to victory even when the performance isn't all it should be. At City, the fans rarely get behind the team properly. It's amazing how many people only take their seats as the teams are coming out on to the pitch and in the 1st break in play dash to the toilets or to the bar. Goals are met with polite applause rather than a rousingcrescendo &noise levels rarely rise above a murmur. It's possible to detect non-football related conversationsduring a game or see many people more interested in their mobile phones than what their team are doing.

Sad really but that's the way football seems to be going. City aren't immune but the atmosphere at other grounds in the CL puts ours to shame.

Football fans are the same at every club the world over.

OK the fans in some countries are more vocal but would be more vocal and passionate at any event tennis/croquet etc let alone a football match.

In this country we are reserved as a nation and need something to excite us and awake our passion.

Can I humbly suggest that regardless of the atmosphere before a match that kicking off in a must win CL game and then passing the ball prettily in our own half to retain possession does not inspire anyone to get excited.

You can't roar on a team that are not playing exciting attacking football.

A proper European night:

i have to admit, our atmosphere is fucking woeful at times to say the least, celtic as an example last night were passionate fans who sung their hearts out which buoyed their team, atmosphere makes players rise to the occasion, however, the players themselves were fucking abysmal. its hard for fans at times to get behind the team when they played as bad as what we did.

Excellent post.

To be fair though the atmosphere at the Etihad has always been wank. It's not just since we got success.

Maine Road rips the Etihad several new bumholes.<br /><br />-- Thu Nov 08, 2012 8:11 pm --<br /><br />

Laughable suggestion. Celtic had 2 attacks all game and look at their fans.

Just what is up with our support ?

We spent 44 years waiting for our club to battle it out in footballs elite competition, the Champions League, (or it's precursor the European Cup) and no sooner are we presented with the opportunity our fans treat the occasion with contempt, like its a game against Wigan in the premier league or carling cup.

We don't sell out, yet we can sell out a 3rd round cup tie against the rags in the FA Cup (You have to question therefore what motivates a proportion of our fans) for me Dortmund in the Champs league is a way bigger game.

Those that do turn up (some credit here) and then the atmosphere is as flat as a pancake with no passion for the team or the occasion. I'm sorry but 40,000 in a champs league game against Ajax is embarrassing.

Celtic showed what can happen with 'real' passionate support behind you that nothing is impossible. We, let our players and our team down.

We have one game against Real Madrid to turn our reputation around, albeit sadly I fear too late. We 'the fans' didn't turn up. If you're a regular who didn't go, but decided to watch it on the tele - hang your head in shame.

Its easy to come on here and slag this player or the manager - but just what did you do to help the team come through !? My guess is the majority moaning did absolutely jack sh*t.

I sing, every game, most of the time its wasted breath but I still turn up and sing. If you go to the game it's what you should do, it's about our reputation as fans and it's about helping OUR team get the outcome we want.

As I say, we have one last chance to show our players what pulling on the blue shirt in a champions league means to us - the fans. If you are a blue, be there, and GET BEHIND THE TEAM.

Blue army.

You make a good point .....

but you have to take into account the way this team can knock the 'stuffing' out of you ..... not only were they absolutely pathetic in front of three thousand travelliing fans in Amsterdam , but they then concede two quick goals to the same team in 'must win' game a week or so later !

Ajax were supposed to be the 'weakest link' in this group , yet have shown a spirit that our players haven't ..... you only have to look at the frustration etched on Mancinis face to see the pressure that his own team has put him under.

And unfortunately, in Europe , that same frustration has filtered down to the fans.

Celtic , for their part . showed commendable spirit the other night , they even had 'rockin' Rod in tears ....... but you do have to take into account that in MOST European fixtures they are nothing short of rubbish themselves!

Correct Black mamba no way should City be losing to a team like Ajax in that way. When i was walking to the ground on tuesday a couple of fans i talked to were flat before the match had kicked off.No way are the fans letting the team down its the other way round. The players let us down big time in europe this season

Some fans need to get a grip, 40k the other night was a decent turn out, I traveled from Yorkshire as normal, £90.00 on tickets, £35 on petrol and a 10 at the chippie not everyone can afford it, 4 games at home in a row and poeple moan about 5k empty seats, if the club had made it £30 a ticket we might hav sold out but we can't have it all ways. there would have been plenty more wanted to go but some have to pick and choose games with Xmas coming up.

I stood in 111 for a change, enjoyed it, sang all night and will be back in 308 doing the same on Sunday, maybe those moaning are the ones who could walk to the ground but couldn't be bothered, either way enjoy what we have got, playing below par and unbeaten, it will improve.
