The first ever football game you watched

That's unbelievable,was just on Facebook a second ago and someone just put all the results up from that weekend lost 2-1.

It was a midweek game

First City game was a derby, my friend's family were rags and I went down on the rag supporters coach and sat in the stretford end with my city scarf on, it was the 2-2 draw with Albiston scoring an OG to level for us, 13yo.

The same family took me to my first game of football, it was Carlisle v Bishop Auckland in the FA cup, 1-0 win.

My own Dad was a twat who lived in the pub.

On television was (I think) the 1969 cup final.
In person, would be Clydebank v Dumbarton - New Years Day 1970 at Kilbowie Park. 0-0 draw but loved the whole experience of it.

My Dad took me to see City v Arsenal at home in Feb 1968 as a 8 year old, drew 1-1. We went to most of the home games after that and also the 4-3 win at Newcastle to win the league. As we all know we then went on a trophy spree for the next few years and as a kid I thought 'this is great'. Unfortunately we all know what followed after 1976,but it was too late by then I was hooked.

The "Trautman" cup final 1956 (on TV). My dad went to Wembley but couldn't afford a second ticket & coach fare. He rented a 12" Granada telly for a ""free weekend trial" for me to watch. Reckons he saw himself on a replay, yeah, right, what are the chances of spotting a guy 5'2" in a crowd of 100K.
Took me to my first live match sometime during 56-57, I can still remember the experience but I can't remember the match.

I vividly remember being told to come in (was outside playing kerby) because, "Your Dad is taking you to see City".

On the TV, City v Spurs FAC Final (the first game, 1-1 draw)

Live, City v Watford, FA Cup, 25th Jan 1986. 1-1, Sat in the North Stand. Bleeding Freezing. Luckily, I din't go the the second replay when we lost 1-3.

I went to the replay and my dads mates car got done in when he parked it well away from the ground on a new car park.Drove the car back with snow coming into the car. My first game was Standard liege then the AC Milan game 3-0 in the cup. I was about 9yrs old. Then I remember going to Spurs vs Alty in the cup.

Because of my insesant whingeing after the 1953cup final,that I wanted to see Stanley Matthews,my dad finally gave in,unfortunately it was at Old Trafford ,this was about October 53,Following week and forever more it was to Maine Road and Etihad..So getting on to nearly 70 years.
