The first ever football game you watched

First game on TV - Norwich V Sunderland in the 1985 Milk Cup Final. When one of the teams brought a sub on, I asked my Dad how they chose him out of all the people there. I thought the crowd were the squad.

First game in the flesh - sorry - got taken to United v Port Vale in the Littlewoods Cup in 1986. United won 2-0 with Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside scoring the goals.
 
First TV match I have a clear memory of was Spurs v Leicester City, 1961 FA Cup final, Spurs won 2-0 to clinch the League and Cup double. Leicester had a player carried off with a broken leg in the first half, no subs then.

First "live" match was at the swamp, FA Youth Cup Semi-final 1st leg April 8th 1964, we lost 4-1.
The second leg on 20th April was my first visit to Maine Rd, we lost 4-3.

Soon after those games I started spending most of my money on records and only went to a few Central League matches in between until :

5th March 1966 - First team "debut" FA Cup 5th round v Leicester City, 2-2 draw, Neil Young scored both.

First away game - swamp derby Sept 1966, lost 1-0, Summerbee had a goal controversially ruled out for offside.

I suppose I could think of all the money I could have saved since then but it wouldn't have been half as much fun.
 
Have a vague memory of Forest lifting the european cup. First game i remember watching on TV was the 81 cup final replay.
 
Manchester United v Benfica. European Cup Final 1968. I was 10. I was on holiday in Bournemouth. My mam and dad let me stay in the house whilst they went out with my older brother.to watch it.
I've supported them ever since.
 
First that I can remember is the 1987 FA Cup Final, Spurs V Coventry. I can recall being annoyed that a team called City that played in blue had won but it wasn't Manchester City.

First in person was Altrincham V Barnet in 1988, first at Maine Road was City V Leicester in 1989 (4-2, Morley hat-trick and Paul Lake swallowed his tongue).
 
Boxing Day 1968 my dad took me as part of my Christmas present and it was my first game either live or on tv. Everton at Maine road and I’ve been hooked ever since despite losing to a good Everton team

A right little fighter (as Norman Hunter could testify), I had to smile the way he handled the ball to get himself in a position to score then acted all inocent, What me! & his penalties were the best I ever saw, even if the keeper got in the way they usually still went in. :-)
