The greatest sportsman EVER

it sticks in my craw that ali's blatant cheating against cooper is swept under the carpet whenever the chance to harp on about how great he was comes about.
angelo dundee gained Ali a few seconds, whether he needed to is a moot point, the next round Ali totally outboxed, outthought and dominated 'enry, which he could have done from the first bell. If Cooper had won,the rematch would have lasted 12 seconds.

Anyone gone for Steve Regrave?

Surely has to be in the top 3.

5 consecutive golds in the Olympics.

The last two whilst suffering from diabetes and Crohns disease (the same disease that's put Fletcher out for the foreseeable)

Could Schumacher be added?

He destroyed his legacy should have stayed retired. Also apparently he is not a very nice person.

In fairness, sporting greatness has little to do with being a nice person.
The correct answer is,of course, the much maligned and misunderstood genius that is Barry Silkman,so you can lock the thread now.

You pick Barry Silkman over Mickey Thomas. You heathen

For me it's either Babe Ruth or Wayne Gretzky. Nobody revolutionized a sport the way those two did, the record books for their respective sports were basically re-written by them.
