The Guardian destroys Ian Wright

What needs saying is that his dopey dad mugged him off when he advised him to sit on Chelsea's bench for 3 years. Cost him 3 years regular football in his prime as well as a place in the 2006 World Cup squad.

I didn't read the article in full but a quick skim and it smacks of some cynical Guardianista having a go at our Shauny.

So many things wrong with that. You couldn't give it a full two minutes concentration so read it for what 15 seconds??? 15 Seconds to see some words and then come on here to waste your time and ours to have a pop at the article that you couldn't even be arsed reading?!?? What is the fucking point?

You would have been better served spening an extra minute reading the very well arguged article in the first place as it is absolutely bang on the money whether you like it or not.

And I love SWP (see - look at my username), but the Guardian sums the situation up perfectly here.

Wow, calm down?

It's easy to label him a "money grabber" or whatever, but to be fair it's not like he's the first footballer in history to demand more than what he earns weekly, and I can bet he won't be the last. Just my two cents.

Wrighty has let himself down if this is true. He has shown how 'loyal' he is in the past, by jumping ship and trying to play with the bog boys. He wasn't good enough and was lucky enough to be welcomed back to City with open arms. As if that isn't enough, he thinks his performances since returning warrant payrise?

No effing chance Shauny. Start playing for City like you did for England, keep it consistent and THEN come back asking for more money!

Well said

This is a guy who quit Match of the day as he wanted to be taken seriously as a presenter and then hosted Gladiators and is now on channel 5.

This is a guy who cost his son a place at the last world cup by urging him to sign for Chelsea and bench warm.

Im sorry but Shaun is on what he is worth. If his contract had 12-18 months left then yes id sit down with him, but it doesnt and does not need to be brought up.
All Shaun needs to do is get into that World Cup Squad and play well for City.

I wouldn't mind 70 grand a week. I wouldn't even mind 1 grand a week.

Do these footballers not see the fucking stupidity of saying £60grand a week isn't enough when lads are skint and jobless. I just despair at it all, I really fucking do. SWP tell your gobshite 'I will disagree with Adrian Durham no matter what just to get paid' Dad to fuck off.

Mugging you off? You are being paid 3 fucking million sterling to play for your so called beloved club and fans, plus sponsorship...... can you not realise how this sounds to an average person?

Thought just crossed me mind - d'yer think Daniel Sturridge is advising SWP?
Who?

SWP.

Shaun Wright-Phillips....;o)

Yes...yes...I know !!

While the rest of us soldier on through the bad times that is this recession, Ian Wright shows us what we already know - he's a big headed greedy twat of a human being with nothing but his own interests at heart.

Shaun - I scored for England last night - Wright-Phillips should take the money and run - if he or his dad think that he's worth a hundred grand a week fine - let them go and get it somewhere else. He's not that good.

Wright's argument was that Shauny was upset that he's not one of the best-paid players at the club. Well to me he's not one of the best players at the club any more so shouldn't be one of the best paid.

Surely 'Ian Wright' is cockerney rhyming slang for 'Talk Shite'.

Dead right, good night.

If only - I'm on a roll - more drink.

I'm sure it'll get sorted, Ian Wrights a prick though making this a bigger issue than it is.

I don't like this swp left city for the money shit though that the guy tried suggesting and a few on here have. Firstly city agreed to sell him, he never handed in a transfer request and at the time he would of bin an absolute idiot to stay at city

Exactly - he was better than us so he moved to Chelsea - moved back when we were equal - now despite Wednesday nights goal he is not worth 100,000 a week.

That's right - 100,000 A WEEK - fuck off you greedy twat - we're not the BBC.

Its a bit rich when he still has two whole years to run at the end of the season to start making noises for more money.
No shouting for more money during the poor lacklustre performances earlier this season. One good game and he's screaming for more cash.

Having said that, its human nature to get pissed off that someone is getting paid more than you and doing a worse job. Whether its twenty quid a week or twenty grand.

Its not that long ago. City desperately needed the money when they sold SWP. We sold him for 21 million bought him back for 8.5. The 21 million was good money at the time. He was pushed. Nothing at all like Sturridge. He made 12 million for the club in that one transaction.

In spite of his father, who is just getting our backs up. Tie it into bonuses, so he can't just coast, but give him the cash.

So Platt Lane is a district now, is it?

Once again this clown kids on he knows what he is talking about.

Platt Lane, funnily enough, it just a lane, simple as.

The district is Fallowfield.

Quality article. The Journo was obviously paraphrasing when he referred to Platt Lane as a 'district'; It's sometimes simpler and gets the point across.

Totally agree 100% with the Journo. I'd love it if we told Wright to fuck off and if Shaun's not happy on 70k per week tell him to whilst we're at it.

He didn't refer to it as a district...

"Platt Lane is in one of Manchester's more unloved districts."
