People fuel the press or press fuel the people? Or both?Sadly this “new society” is going nowhere... I mentioned this in the Covid thread as I felt embarrassed about how we’ve handled the lockdown.. Far to many have just ignored the rules because they are self-obsessed and what they want goes.. the public fuel the press because if people really didn’t like the sensationalism then the press simply wouldn’t have an ear....

No, on balance I believe the press and media set the agenda and a large segment of people follow it.

The calling out of institutional racism is not just aimed at the Royal family, it is aimed at the British media and that does need calling out.
Throwing mud knowing it will stick is damaging. It’s no better than the very behaviour she is accusing our media of.
The refusal to name the individual is cowardly and telling in my opinion as it smacks of it possibly being untrue or a wilful attempt at damaging the whole household whilst of course maximising the media publicity and circus they both told the world they just wanted to leave behind.
The brand, their management, their PR are sat pissing their sides today watching the money roll in whilst the world argues with itself and takes a side.

The interview last night had one and only one purpose and that was to cement the brand that is now Harry and Meghan.
It had fuck all to do with settling family spats.
I wouldnt disagree with you, part of me thinks that way to. I just dont follow the royals enough to have a strong view. Sometimes i think Harry should be stronger as it seems Meghan wears the trousers so to speak. But i only get that view from the little bits i pick up from a press/media that dont like Meghan.
You cant get away with the fact that Harry childhood wasn't great. What was he 11 when his mum died ? Walked behind her coffin, his dads affair, rumours of who his father is, his dad marries the woman he was seeing behind Harry's mums back or not so behind her back. Yes a royal but what a mess his family was.

look up the meaning of institutional. One person being accused out of a whole household the size of the Royal Family does not equal institutional in the exact same way as you rightly point out, one person in the Labour movement doesn’t equate to everyone.
Why won’t they name the person they are alleging used racist language?
Far more damaging to start a witch hunt against an unnamed person and allow people to attack your family's institution and name rather than, for example, have named someone like Prince Andrew was named and then the heat goes on the individual and people can tackle the issue.
But she doesn't want to genuinely tackle like that, she's a cuckoo who fledged the nest and is still craving the attention bestowed upon her that she couldn't get on a middle of the road American TV show.
She and her husband could have earned some grace back by quietly raising their family and pursuing their commercial interests without pulling a stunt like this which damages everyone. This whole interview was a shitty move whether you believe them or not.
