The home support is terrible

It's fuck all to do with he supporters.

We have too many players with no affinity to the club who don't care. Our so called best player Yaya Toure has reiterated his desire to leave on several occasions, trying to force a move to PSG. Dzeko, Kolarov, Jovetic are all clearly looking for an escape route and play with no passion or fight. Caballero, Demichillis, Fernando, Mangala, Lampard haven't been around long enough to form a bond with the supporters. We play a very slow, methodical tempo with very little tenacity in regaining possession.

Yet you want our fans to get excited?

It's a job I guess they play to instruction and give of their best like all us employees do

It was terrible.

But no home support at any PL club would have created a good atmosphere against Hull.

It's just one of those fixtures/games where you know the atmosphere will be flat and s***,

What made matters even worse was the teams performance.

I honestly believe that a proper singing section is the only way the atmosphere will ever improve. The bigger the better imo. This will encourage other sections to basically join in with the songs being sung. It's no good getting the odd pockets of fans trying to start a song as it soon dies a death. If asked most people would probably say they'd re locate to a designated singing section. It's the reassurance of knowing that everyone around you wants to sing. People are like sheep , let's not kid ourselves. At the moment you're surrounded by the 'unknown'. People don't want to make a show of themselves by starting a song. I hope that makes sense?

I think what I'm trying to say is let's no try to over complicate matters. Get back to basics and think about basic human instincts first. Think about away days. Why is the atmosphere so good? It's because you know you're surrounded by people who are the there for the same reasons as yourself. To have a laugh and belt out songs for the team. Which leads me back to humans being like sheep. You're not afraid to shout sing when you know the people around you want the same.

Have you not saw the 1894 Groups plans then?

Yes and I'm basically agreeing that this is the only way I personally think it will ever improve. Just trying to give a more in depth view on the reasoning.

The away support is so good because 90% of the fans are pissed up &up for a great day out

the home team is terrible at the moment ..... there's your problem.

What about last season when the home team was one of the best around and the atmosphere was still tepid at best, besides the usual big games?

It's an easy excuse to blame the team... many fan bases support much worse teams than ours and make plenty of noise.

Our fans used to take the piss out of Old Trafford but right now the Etihad is as quiet as Old Trafford or the Emirates has ever been. Just a few years ago it had a better atmosphere (remember the Poznan sweeping around the entire stadium?)... never a cauldron but there used to be a healthy atmosphere besides the Pearce era.

I've been critical of the club because they seem almost to have actively tried to worsen the atmosphere (excessive stewarding and warnings, banners ripped down, Americanisation of the 'match day experience', relentless price hikes) but have to credit them for granting 1894 the new block to try something with. It's the first step in the right direction and hopefully not the last.
