The idiocy (and selfishness) of panic buying

What exactly can government do (any flavour) in this situation. They come out and make a statement that 'there is no need to panic' and everyone loses their minds. They don't make a statement and things go tits up and it's 'Why didn't you warn us?'

Perhaps if the government didn't lie at every possible opportunity and hadn't proven themselves to be incompetent muppets at dealing with pretty much anything that has come their way since assuming power, people would be more willing to believe them when they say there's no need to panic.

We have the worst government at exactly the worst time for it. We also have the worst opposition, at exactly the worst time for it. We also have the very worst media, at exactly the worst time for it.

It’s as if the Government weren’t aware of the shortage of HGV drivers pre-Brexit. Also, they didn’t see the ramifications of Brexit and the further reduction in drivers when Johnny Foreigner went home. Odd that, it’s almost as if they don’t plan?

This is it in a nutshell. If Johnson came on the tv at midnight and said it was dark, I’d go and check. That’s why they’re complicit in all this nonsense.

Except that it's usually the Tories who've been in power and who look set to be for a generation.
Hence this a Tory argument to justify incompetence of successive Tory Government's.
Retired poster blue insa famously used to justify their mismanagent of the Covid crisis along the lines of every country's response has been shit and so we are no different.
This Government is uniquely incompetent and inept due in large part to the character of Johnson and a cabinet not appointed on ability but on slavish devotion to a Brexit dogma.

The fact is nobody knows whether he would have done better but he might have - why not?
You're just using an unpopular politician and an unknown fact as to how he would have done any better to justify the appaling performance of this Government.

For anybody still struggling on fuel this morning, Morrisons seem to have diesel at most places. Both Tescos near me however are still closed.
