The "Im not going to wembers thread"

80-90% of those who will go to this hardly ever go away.

A bit of pot and kettle about this.

Who cares what United think if we don't sell out?

Our hardcore away following is less than 1,500 and the rest depends on the game.

sad bastard!

Cant believe there are fans who are already choosing not to go to wembley for a derby! 2nd derby in 6 months at wembley! cant wait, and i cant believe their are 'fans' who dont want to go.

It should be everyone wants to go but for those who cant, it should be because they cant afford to. If you can, theres no excuses.

Give it ten years and when we've won a few more trophies, we'll have thousands of armchair fans, watch this space.

Would you have gone to the Denis Irwin Testimonial(remember it?) had it been at Wembley?

It's Wembley, it's against the rags, another day out, reasonable price so no problem.

Another coach load going from Swinton minus me cos I'd already booked my hols but I'll be watching it from sunnier climes.

if i wasnt 14 at the time and could of afforded it and it was at wembley, which wouldnt of happened anyway then yes. So you can compare denis irwins testimonial to the charity shield? forgive me if im wrong but didnt we last win the charity shield in 72?

Ive waited all my life to see us win a cup, we won the cup after 35 years. I was born in 86 so i've never seen us win a cup, yet now we have won one, theres fans saying ''oh,it's only a friendly.''

b,b,b,b, BULLSHIT!!

Why did people get so hyped up about the semi when we was not guaranteed to get in the final? now we have a chance to win yet another trophy by beating them a second sime, people cant be arsed.

and to quote this poster

I'm going, I hope it does sell out. The players don't deserve to run out to any empty seats after what they did last season.

I went to that one, and the Arthur Albiston one. And the Paul Lake one, and possibly another as well. Was it that Irish United defender with a head like a patchwork quilt? Cant really remember.

But I'm not taking a weekend out to go to Wembley for this. No way. I've got kids and I'll save my brownie points with the Mrs for a game that matters. Like the CL aways. For me it isn't the cash but the time. And the fucking hassle.

We're not the City of old any more who only care about getting a freak result against big bad United every now and again. We've finally caught them up, I think overtaken them, for the first time in 20 years and we've got bigger fish to fry than this game.

so if it's not that important then i take it you wont be cheering when we win?

ARe you seriously equating the two?

A cup semi final is a huge, crucial game, especially when one team is chasing the treble and the other chasing it's first trophy for years.

A Charity Shield is a friendly match, there'll be no tackles going in, nothing. Noone cares about the charity shield. Win or lose, it'll be forgotten about the next week. It's of exactly the same importance as The Thomas Cook trophy or that Juan Gamper thing: a token trophy where one of only two teams can win it.

If we win it I hope you balloons don't start saying "We've won a trophy already this season".

deary me.

last years attendance was 84,500 out of a capacity of 90,000.

2009 - 86,000
2008 - 85,000
2007 - 80,000
Before that it was in cardiff.

The way it looks now, our support is going to be embarassing.

I'll watch it on the box, I'll cheer if we score and be pleased to win it. But my excitement/delight/disgust/anger levels will be about on a par with a carling cup second round first leg tie against Huddersfield.
