The Independent Group

In order to frame a completely erroneous argument it is important to set the boundaries of what is and what is not acceptable discourse, never address your adversary directly, never veer anywhere near the point and pepper your "argument" with highly charged but completely irrelevant words and phrases.

So what do we have here on the question of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party?

Blimey! It's nearly the full set...

Auschwitz

stormtroopers

gas chambers

The working definition of anti-Semitism drawn up by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, contains the following....

"Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust."

While that does not state that accusing Jewish people of using the holocaust as a political tool is anti-Semitic in itself, I've seen that viewpoint used as an anti-Semitic indicator in a number of social attitude polls. So accusing a Jewish person of doing that might be considered anti-Semitic.

So I won't.

What I find particularly depressing about you is that you're not an idiot and yet you feel perfectly relaxed to use references to Auschwitz, storm troopers and gas chambers in reference to the Labour Party and, more depressing still, you are happy to end your post thus....

"you and your ilk?"

Imagine how your head would explode if I were to refer to you as "you and your ilk?"

I never would refer to you in such a way, not because I self censor or lie, but because I don't feel that way and never have and neither do the rest of my "ilk"
Theres not a thread on this forum where he doesn't dish out abuse.

I voted for that. Lost. I move on. This makes me amazingly old fashioned.

Abolition of Slavery.

Universal emancipation.

Repeal of the corn laws.

Acknowledging the right of catholics to take up seats in Parliament.

All were defeated at the first time of asking. Call me old fashioned but I’ll carry on supporting what I believe to be right.

As usual something in the middle is about right. General elections or referendums every Tuesday not good. Accepting a voting system for eternity bad.

It’s not a game of football mate. This is people’s lives. It’s something which will affect a whole generation just stepping into the job market.

The question you need to ask yourself is, do you think Brexit will harm the country? If the answer is yes then you have to keep fighting.

Letter in The Times today proposing that the group had got it wrong, that the UK had moved to the right in socio-cultural terms and to the left in terms of economic policy.

It was one of several propositions for what the fuck is going on in the electorate and why 6/10 people do not feel represented by the two parties.

Honestly, I had to have a laugh. It begins to make more sense when you really think about how ridiculous it is that some insist that the way to understand the failure of left-right-consensus politics is to.... plot everything on the left-right axis.

Just keep relabelling the axis and plotting random groups of issues... I'm sure it will make sense sooner or later!

He was talking about PR/FPTP ( i think)

this needed to happen. a lot of these mps arent really conservatives or labour. the thing is though mps like anna soubry wont win a by election. its ironic they want a peoples vote, but are scared to have their own...

also its pushed labour further to the left and the tories to the right, which i think is a good thing.i dont see the appeal of a centrist party. populations are moving to the left and right

Somewhat ironic that the MPs that want to remain and reform in the EU didn't feel like they could do the same in their own parties .

Hopefully this episode will have helped them get into the mindset of a leave voter.

I think it will split labour in half and make it easier for the Tories to win elections now.

Also most of the mps joining this have completely different views. You’ve got conservatives who supported austerity and others the complete opposite

Allen has a cheek to say what her and the other 2 tories have done and voted on is the past and not relevant.

Fuck off.

And Soubry saying it is impossible to articulate our values beyond a peoples vote because they are obvious, no they fucking ain't because they don't exist.

A bunch of carpet bagging bullshitters having hissy fits at their parties.
