The Italian Benitez...

No not at all. I am perfectly able to accept reasonable criticism of Mancini, in fact I am able to see the good and bad in him myself and am certainly not someone who refuses to see any faults in him (although broadly I am pretty supportive of him because I think he is a decent manager). However, when people (usually you to be fair) start going on about how his track record isn't good and how he only won his Serie A titles because he was "given" them, I feel angry and genuinely embarrassed that City supporters can come out with such dross. Why don't you take a proper look at what he has won (including why Inter were "given" the first title and how convincingly they won the second and third), who he has won things with, how much he has improved the teams at the clubs he has been at. You don't like the guy, we get it and frankly you are obviously entitled to your opinions but at least be constructive and reasoned with your criticism because when you resort to cheap shots at his excellent track record, you just sound desperate.

You think it's dross because you don't believe it....have you read the whole thread? Do you know why I'm so frustrated with Mancini? Do you know there are others like me? They also post on this board. Some of them hold stronger negative opinions about him than I do...

I was frustrated and I acknowledge that the comment about being 'given' the title was a cheap shot. It doesn't however change my belief that Mancini is going to struggle to win the league just as Benitez did.

No, I think it is dross because Mancini has a good track record and you like to imply that he hasn't purely because it suits your agenda. It was that one bit about the title that I quoted and would have thought that it was obvious that it was that bit that I was referring to when I said you're an embarrassment. I didn't criticise you for voicing any of your other opinions. You say you acknowledge that it was a cheap shot but I have seen you have that same cheap shot on other occasions on here, it certainly wasn't a heat of the moment one off due to your frustrations of the derby. No problem with you being negative about him in general, I don't think it is particularly helpful but you are totally entitled to your opinion.

Great post hbruz80

I think it's a sad state of affairs that people have already concluded that Mancini isn't the right man for the job, despite us doing fine and him being here less than a year

I like Mancini immensely and the way he conducts himself. No manager in world football is having to deal with half the pressure this guy is at the moment.

4th in the league with a 4 point gap on 5th.

His brief is to secure top4 and CL football and in my opinion he will do just that and whilst id like to be royally entertained in the process, results are all that matters and if he delivers then hats off to the man.

Not much wrong with the football on offer against West Brom guys and yes, possibly the weakest rags side in many years but they are still the benchmark whether we like it or not.

The performance was a mirror image of the Chelsea one and we were all happy after that!

Can't speak for anyone else but I'd say most 'doubters' haven't concluded that he's the wrong man for the job, but we have doubts that he's the right man. The two things are actually different, and for me our approach to the derby perfectly encapsulates why I doubt Mancini will lead us to the title.

i'll be honest,i am no fan of mancini at the moment, but,he is our manager and i support him 100%...i do think he is too defensive, considering the firepower we have...can anyone explain the following decisions...
v rags...bringing ade on for 30 seconds..
v wolves...2-1 down,need a goal,take ade off bring on zabs.
v stoke,f.a cup last season,3-1 down in extra time, take off barry for sylvinho..
i dont understand these decisions..anyone?

Am i allowed to say hbruz's post is magnificent or am i simply agreeing with absolutely everything he said because i'm a 'Mancini' fan?

It's magnificent because it's a wonderful piece of essay writing which completely reaffirms those opinions held by most of the people who think Mancini can do little or no wrong...it's a fine fine post, don't get me wrong...

But given the time and inclination I'm sure there's a few of us on here who could write something equally insightful and detailed about why Mancini isn't the right guy. Would it make any of you lot change your views of him? Not a chance...and I don't think I or anyone else wants you to change your views on him...

That's the beauty of this place....opposing opinions....

Well, you've had all night to think of a riposte. I'm sure all of us will be willing to give you or any other 'anti' the time to absorb the reply critique.

The door is opening awaiting the first snappy retaliation...

Benitez was worshipped by the majority of Liverpool fans and some would still like him back. However a growing minority wanted him out and eventually he was sacked and replaced by Roy Evans. Who, last time I looked, they all thought was a clown who ought to resign.

The moral is clear for me - don't ask for a change unless you are sure you are getting someone better. The 'someone betters' than Mancini are few and far between, and are not necessarily interested in joining City, hard though that may be to believe.

I think some of our fans underestimate that task of turning the old City into a title-winning outfit. It's a big job, it will take time and it needs a decent manager like Mancini. Mancini would not be paid all that money if anyone could do his job. Too many people on here seem to think it's a piece of piss and that he's just having a laugh. Not so.

A very good post, lad.

Conveniently ignored by some...

Why, so I can be talked down to by those who accuse me of talking down to to others. Abused by those who accuse me abusing others. You've read this thread, in fact you had your say. I believe it was your continued chuckling at how stupid I am...

Jog on Bigga...

EDIT:

With the exception of Chick Counterfly there's not a single one of you who has the smarts to write a post coming close to the one that lad has written...check you all out now crowing about how clever he is...now that's embarrassing...

That'd fair enough mate lots of us have doubts, but it's way too early to draw any conclusions

I have my many doubts but I'll back Mancini and the boys 100%.

Roll on tomorrow, I can't fucking wait.
