"The Keeper"

The actor who plays Bert is David Kross who was in War Horse and The Reader. Don't think he was in Peaky Blinders.
I think he was in the later series James. He's the son of the sister who got taken off her years back. If it's not him then it's his double. UPDATE:
Just checked and you're right. But bloody hell ,he's the spit of him.

John Henshaw is a mate of my cousins. A Monsall/Newton Heath lad. My dad used to pick him up in his taxi and he always says he's a belting lad. Good actor from Peaky Blinders plays Bert as well. Can't wait to see it.
He used to live in Ancoats n’all in one of those houses on that proper nice street George Leigh St.

Hope the film will be good. The director Marcus Rosenmüller is mainly known for doing comedies here in Germany. Have seen a couple of them and they are alright. Not sure if he can do a serious sports film like this one. We will see.

Rosenmüller is famous for his bavarian films - he comes from upper bavaria and as I am not a film fan the first time I heard about him was a Playboy interview in which he and Thomas Müller in July 2013 in which both were questioned about values, homeland, roots, family... Funnily a film about a Mancunian hero with Northern German roots is done by a Bavarian cult film director - a big Bayern Munich fan - and the film is partly financed with 2 Mio. EUR by the FilmTVFonds Bavaria in which the state Bavaria has big shares.

Rosenmüller was in Bavarian TV tonight talking about the film - in Germany it starts mid of March. He "found" the material for the film and wanted to make it since then about 10 years ago - had long talks with Trautmann in Valencia?, where Trautmann lived the recent years.

The stadium scenes of Wembley werde done in the Rosenaustadium in Augsburg - the former stadium of Bundesliga club FC Augsburg who have a new stadium since 2014. Some scenes are filmed in Munich, some in Manchester.

Just a heads up - if anyone has Sky VIP - you can get free tickets for "The keeper" at a ton of cinemas. Not sure if available to all but i got it under my rewards.

Nearly all the showings are 18th March and doesnt seem to be a Manchester showing but loads elsewhere around the country.

Sky VIP is a reward scheme for those who have held sky for a long time. Its pretty straight forward to download and another good feature is free tickets or ballots for Premier league matches including city vs fulham and the Derby!

Most of the football was filmed in Ireland, as were many of the countryside scenes.

Strange seeing as it's release is April 5th in this country?
Only cinema I've found showing it to date is Showcase on Hyde Rd.

Yeah does seem strange and the lack of a Manchester venue when every big other city has locations. I know sometimes movies get earlier showings and special viewings but only a few days earlier.

I wonder if there is any special Premiere lined up in Manchester with City involved?

Would have thought the club would be all over it tbh mate.
It's also listed at the printworks but showcase is the only one with booking info atm.

Went to see it earlier today in Munich, in German obviously. Really enjoyed it , a mixture of triumph and tragedy with a sprinkling of good humour. I was surprised how emotional I was watching it ,probably because the people of Manchester came out of it favourably. Sat there with about a dozen German pensioners, would have been interesting to find out their thoughts on the film. Recommended.

For those interested in seeing a bit of City nostalgia on the Beeb.... The One Show will have a feature on Trautmann next week. It's scheduled for Wednesday (but check listings as these things can move) and should include interviews with me, John Henshaw and a variety of fans filmed at my Trautmann talk the other day. They're also interviewing Bert's son too.

Thanks for the heads up, as I usually turn it straight off.
