I actually think he just mentioned he retired at 50, had a pension of £1,500 a month ( Before adding his state pension to it I think, but I may be wrong on that) He didn't mention what his missus fetches in per month but they drive two cars and have two holidays a year. I'm.not shedding any tears.

No that is not what I said or meant, but now you mention it I am concerned they will tax my pension further. Its happened before. But we shall see.

I wish just they would go after the big tax dodgers , the individuals and especially all the big multi national and national companies that don't pay their fair share of UK tax. But they won't, they have too much influence over all governments sadly.

My 75 year old aunt hit the roof when she heard about it. She isn't rich but she is certainly financially comfortable.
She has voted Tory all her life and sees the WF payment as the one perk she received after working for 50 years.
She called Reeves a "Commie woman" lol and I didn't dare point out that my aunt is going to Australia for about 6 weeks around Christmas so she will be in sunny climes anyway.

I do understand why she is pissed off, but she certainly doesn't need the WF payment.

I'm due to visit her for a few days soon. We will have to agree not to talk politics because it won't be pretty haha

It’s a possibility that, being a Tory voter, she is now angry on 2 fronts. I’m very much of the view that people who don’t need it, shouldn’t get it. Same point of view goes for all these universal payments such as Family Allownace.

Our benefit system needs a full review and is there as a safety net for those who need it. Not a bonus for those that don’t.
