The Labour Government

Starmer has made some mistakes in his first few months. But going on holiday with his family isn't really one of them in my book. He's the PM, I don't expect him to queue with everyone else for security reasons alone. We've all seen how politicians have become targets for loons the past few years.

In May last year Khan won a landmark third successive term as mayor of London.

The Tories put Zac Goldsmith, the twat he defeated back in 2016, in the House of Lords, he's now Baron Goldsmith of Richmond Park.

Last year Khan beat his Conservative rival Susan Hall by more than 276,000 votes - representing a swing of 3.2% to Labour.

He won nine of the 14 constituencies including two gains from the Tories.

He has an impressive list of achievements to his name, I doubt you could name one.

I don't like Khan, I don't like his politics and I don't like his style, but he's a formidable political operator, has done more good than harm and Londoners keep re-electing him.

But you chose to go with knife crime to ridicule the honour he's received, an honour that's routinely dished out to lesser men without comment.
Morning, out of interest what are Khan's impressive list of achievements then?

The first sentence was all you needed to say - that’s agreed - he can’t queue with Joe Public for security reasons.

Trying to create equivalence or “he’s not as bad as..” is where it all falls down as it has no relevance and is just plain daft.
Not in Murdoch world. That's the only reason it's in the thread.

Thanks for posting, thats a good list, but it would also seem that he has missed his own housing targets and council tax for londoners has gone up 70% under his tenure according to the bbc. And crime and knife crime is way too high. So it's not all sweetness and light is it?

He's a politician, so I would never just take his word for what he has achieved. They generally all put themselves first and paint a positive picture imo.

Easy, Tiger. It's an Internet meme.
I didn't realise you had a hard on for the fella

A fair and honest comment to include the mugging of pensioners and the villainous betrayal of those poor waspi women. Inflation up, unemployment up, possibility of a recession, tens of thousands more illegals trotting over, two tier policing, inflation busting pay rises, etc.

In the interests of fair play, the poor lad hasn't had a break since taking office. Somewhat surprised he hasn't deputised his deputy whilst away, so he could return back to blighty more refreshed to tackle his 2025 rebuilding year.

She projects as such a pleasant, keen and willing soul, so unsure on his reluctance to share of the workload?
Maybe she's too busy herself rebuilding our towns of the future.

Re-election?
I think in all honesty that's more not being a Tory at the time. From a distance I would say knife crime would be the largest negative. As I don't live there the positives I couldn't say.
I always think with mayor's and local govt you have to try and judge are any positives or negatives down to the mayor or the national govt.
Funding always becomes the sticking point.

All Governments and Prime Mjnisters make mistakes. The last lot certainly made plenty.

I believe its fair to pass comment on policies but It's way to early to judge this government, let's see where we are in a year or two. If the economy has grown then all of us will be happy, we'll nearly all of us ;-)

whilst they are planning (rightfully) the abolition of hereditary peers lets get rid of this too - a "regiment" that exists to serve a Duke who doesn't live there and are armed with rifles that belong in the 19th century ...... what is the point?
