The Labour Government

What is bizarre is that you really don’t appear to understand what a Trump led USA with most constraints to his actions removed will look like.
I do fully understand what a Trump administration could look like, and that’s exactly why I think the Labour Party should remain neutral on the election and attempt to maintain as good a relationship with him as possible.

His unpredictable nature and his tendency to hold grudges means that he has to be handled with kid gloves, no matter how much people may dislike him. It’s a simple matter of diplomacy.

The people in question are Labour Party employees and work in the UK government.

I’ve provided a clear rationale explaining why I think it’s a bad idea.
And you know that how? Are they paid from the public purse so HMG employees or paid from the Labour purse? If it's the former then it's absolutely a mistake. If it's the latter, I would suggest no one on BM has any idea if they are volunteers and therefore unpaid or not.

No, it's your imagination I was replying to you. I replied directly to @inbetween who used that phrase-not you. Apology accepted when I get one!
It came up on my alerts that you had quoted my post, so I don’t know what happened there.

I’m happy to apologise, and I have been quite busy today, so probably was a bit distracted. But like I said I did have an alert that you had replied to me, and when I responded to the alert it took me your post.

erm - it was in a message on a Labour Party internal Linkedin page .......... kind of suggests they are Party members - may even be supporters and canvassers not employed by the Party.

If they are private individuals and doing it on their own time and dollar who are you to say where or when they can go somewhere? Its like you booking a family holiday to the States whilst working for Labour or the Tories and there is an election called so you are barred from going there on holiday because of who you work for or your political affiliations.

No they’re not, most are volunteers. Even if some are, it’s still something that’s happened in every election.

If you’ve always thought that rationale and criticised all parties equally for it then fair enough. Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal at all, never have done and just shows the growing immaturity we have in politics nowadays.
