The Labour Government

I do hope I'm wrong, but rumours are rife (FT, Times, Telegraph) that Labour are going to nuke small family firms with inheritance tax (currently exempt).
Please no, that would be a fucking disaster as many would have to be sold to pay a HMRC tax bill. Those that aren't sold would have to cut back on investment to pay the tax - the only area of UK business with sufficient investment in the future of the business.

And so it starts! The pie will get smaller - 25 million people in this country paying for the rest!

Head brick wall rinse and repeat, it's a circular argument fuelled by ignorance and contrary fuckwittery.
One side offers a solution; the other howl at the moon.

Still, this subforum is glad to have such a bastion of wisdom that reads all sides and knows better than anyone else, whichever country’s policies is being discussed.

Yes, give it 12 months.
Seems that’s something quite a few people on here aren’t willing to do judging by their idiotic comments.
That’s what I said. It’s the honeymoon period and will be for around 6 months. Everything is bright, shiny and new. The newly elected MPs are going to change the world. Then reality kicks in…

And nobody can say that they weren’t warned. Wait till they put inheritance tax on the sale of your house or primary residence. In Labour’s eyes inherited wealth is evil. Therefore they will take it off you and piss it away. It’s going to happen. It might take them a year or two to do it. But do it they will.

Fucking wankers - i have come from a council house and worked like a basted for nearly 30 years solid to build myself to this stage. Politics of envy. How can they not see that taxing entrepreneur's and the most hard working will not shrink the pot. We will rue the day we voted these fuckwits in trust me. Opportunists on the back of Brexit and a war and a pandemic.

Phillips Lammy and Raynor -fuck me!! Idiots think these are going to save the country?

Never mind just 10 years to go.

The vast majority of people are thick. Lets say there are approaching 68 million people in the UK. Only 25 million are business owners or private sector workers. That means that the balance are public sector workers, students, kids, pensioners. or non economic contributors. Lets hammer the most productive and intelligent of that 25 million to keep funding the rest!

Madness - absolute madness. The upper 10% of that 25 million will just have less incentive to graft, take risks, create money save etc.

The problem with socialism every time is you eventually run our of other peoples money. If anyone can prove me wrong on that i will applaud them.

Well they kept the tories in power fucking up the country for 14 years, and voting for brexit so maybe you have a point, about being thick.I can guarantee now in 5 years the country will be better than it was left last month, maybe not by enough but it will be better enough to win a second term.

Mainly because Ed and Corbyn were fucking morons that were worse than the mob currently at the wheel, and even a huge chunk of the proletariat could see it.

Your entire premise is based on your own prejudices and you make no attempt to mitigate that.

Senior Academics and boffins working in labs are usually a lot smarter than managing directors running small family firms, but they don't necessarily fall within the private sector.

The sad fact is - the Pension money tree that Gordon Brown exploited in 1997 eventually resulted in the extinction of company final salary pension schemes.
What will this government do?
There's a £2bn hole in their spending plans that needs to be filled. (The Tory plans had the same hole BTW).
