FWIW the elephant in the room regarding pensions and benefits is what happens in 20 years time. Upto now, the majority of today's pensioners own their property and so the state pension doesn't have to really take into account mortgage/rental payments. In 20 years or a bit more, there will be a cohort that will not be in that position and so will have to rely on other means to keep a roof over their head. Indirectly, this will almost certainly be in the form of a significant increase in housing benefit claims. I don't know the answer but just thought I'd put it out there to highlight what's coming down the track.

A couple of things.
Where do I say I don’t need the state pension?
The point about the £220 per week state pension means you are unlikely to qualify for pension credit isn’t made about me . The point being made is that if you get the basic state pension you don’t qualify for PC if however you are one year short in terms of nic credit you would loose circa £6 per week and as a consequence probably qualify ( there are other factors such as having savings) for PC worth a who.e lot more than 52x £6 per week.

I think we can all work out what it is.

I can't ever imagining that it would be a good idea to do a serious photoshoot (or agreeing to someone else's suggestion) in what looks like a public lavatory.
