The Labour Government

Incredible that we are told we are gearing up to stand up to Russia at the same time as shutting the last remnants of domestic steel production.
What is annoying is that both main parties have openly declared in the last few years that maintaining the capability to make steel in the UK and retain our blast furnaces was an key essential UK capability that should be retained. What's changed? Where are the journalists asking these important questions?

Its what happens when you sell off strategic industries such as steel production , power production and distribution , water , transport etc. Nothing has changed .....the risk was exactly the same 30 years ago as it is now.

Learn to live with it .... you got what you voted for.

I suppose you're right, I voted Labour.

Well Done Starmer and Labour.

The Labour Government have unreservedly pulled the inquiry into grooming gangs.... can this incompetent and inept government sink any lower?

Yeah you're all correct I personally cannot find anything good they have done for the average working person, so forgive me for not heaping praise on them.

Anyone that saw Jess Philipps making that announcement at the last minute before the Easter recess will know she was not in support of it.

Cowardly, done at the last minute, before the recess knowing there would be many on their own side would be opposed to avoid discussion and debate in parliament.

Shocking!

Already had countless local and national inquiries, no point spending millions and millions more for the same recommendations which causes more delay - The Tories failed to act on the implementations, Labour will get on with them.

The IICSA national inquiry was set up in 2015 and carried out 15 investigations, including into grooming gangs and abuse in schools and church settings.

Prof Jay had previously led a landmark local inquiry into widescale abuse in Rotherham, where it was estimated 1,400 children were exploited between 1997 and 2013.

The IICSA's final report, external was published in 2022 and set out 20 recommendations it said were necessary to reduce child suffering.

Prof Jay said: "Our mission is not to call for new inquiries but to advocate for the full implementation of IICSA's recommendations."

I can't stand this two tier nanny state do as I say not as I do load of freeloaders.

I am an FOC pensioner, and I used to vote for them.

I can't bear the thought of another 5 years of them.

Well the new laws protecting... workers rights... probably helped the "average working person"-whatever that actually means.

Stupidly commiting to no tax,VAT or NI rises on workers..probably protects the average worker.

You go through issues like a shopping trolley with a busted wheel, one para it's grooming gangs, then average workers then back to grooming. It's like having our very own version of Boris Johnson on the site.

They are by no means perfect but if you consider where we are now, the pits, you must have been mortified beyond words by the last lot.

Thought you'd pitch in defending the indefensible..

Tactical and cowardly timing to avoid a challenge.

Have you seen Jess Phillips making the announcement in parliament? She does not appear to be behind it at all and it looks like she acting under sufferance.... still if Keir says it's so, then it'll be alright with you.

As you were...

So I take it you support - fine.
