Your're a funny fucker.
You love capitalism red in tooth and claw when it suits your purpose.
But you fall back on...
" No-one has a god-given right to a rpi+ pay increase every year. It's like what, no-one else has had to suffer?"
Are you appealing to a civic commitment to the public good? The ideal of public service? We're all in this together?
Why should the doctors give a fuck about everybody else?
You don't every day of the fucking week.
I fail to see any contradiction whatsoever. Doctors are extremely well paid by most standards. Of course they have the right to ask for even more, and to strike over it if they want. And the government, like any employer, has the right to tell them to fuck off. Which I hope we will do, since their claim is unreasonable.
How am I not being a capitalist in saying this? Bizarre.
I am not asking doctors to give a fuck about anyone else. I am suggesting to them that the cupboard is bare and to suck it up because they must, not out of some supreme self-sacrifice. Although ironically, what did happen to that bloody "calling" that they like to bang on about when it suits them and conveniently forget when it doesn't.
And your final sentence is as uncalled for as it is wrong. In my thousands of posts on here you will barely find a single one suggesting policies that would directly benefit me. The only one I can remember was me objecting to someone saying better off pensioners should have their pensions taken of them, which I objected to. (Not that I am a pensioner yet, but that could affect me the future, which after my 40-odd years of NI contributions, I found galling.)
Everything I ever propose is how I think we can benefit the country as a whole, i.e. everyone else. Believing in capitalism is not, not giving a fuck about anyone else. It's believing, rightly or wrongly, that it's the best way - perhaps the only way - to make everyone better off. But red coloured glasses fail to see it, instead pretending we're all money grabbers in it for ourselves.
Just how wrong can you be. I oppose increasing the top rate of tax...but I don't pay it anyway. I oppose a wealth tax... But it wouldn't affect me. I opposed an employers' NI increase... yet I am not an employer, nor employed. I was against getting rid of the WFA...that I don't receive anyway. I am all for reducing migration further... Whilst there is barely an immigrant where I live and it would have no impact on me.
You see? It's not about ME. So, no, I am not a "funny fucker". Just a principled one.
