The Labour Government

It does but as there are still post office staff awaiting payment im not overly optimistic it will be anytime this century.
I think it depends which compensation scheme a claimant is under, but I agree it does seem to be taking too long:

The Post Office has several compensation schemes for victims of the Horizon IT scandal, including the Horizon Shortfall Scheme (HSS) for those affected by financial shortfalls, the Group Litigation Order (GLO) Scheme for specific legal case participants, and the Horizon Convictions Redress Scheme (HCRS) for those with overturned convictions. There are also separate schemes for those impacted by the older Capture system and other issues. Payments have been made, and a new Capture Redress Scheme was expected to open in late 2025, while the deadline for new applications to the HSS is January 31, 2026

Labour had 14 years to get ready for government and they’ve shit the bed in the first 12 months. Get over it.

They had a smidge over 4 years. Starmer was elected leader in April 2024 - from then he assembled a team and began on policy.

If you believe your 14 years bollocks then you'd believe Mayday, Johnson, Truss, and Sunak all followed Cameron's philosophy. Thats not how it works and you know it but if you want to think that and share with the room don't be surprised when the stupidity of the position is returned to you

You’re forgetting BKB

these are not football teams - the illogical, slavish unquestioning support for these parties and their (failed) policies – mainly because they ain't the other side – is embarrassing

Doesn’t matter whether it’s four or fourteen years - they’ve still shit the bed in spectacular fashion.

Have a nice evening.

100% this but, worse than that, it emboldens governments and politicians to be absolutely shit safe in the knowledge that a shed load of ideologues will vote for them anyway

True enough but it was April 2020 by the way - guessing that was a typo though ;)

Anyway, what the fuck do we know? BKB of course

I didn't suggest collusion. The Tesco example does seem to be blatant profiteering on the back of the NI increase that they are so adamant is affecting their business detrimentally.

The problem is that Tesco would soon lose customers if this was a profit motivated issue. Of course customers are habitual and may well not look around but after a time they will. Take mince beef as a prime example, gone up 50% in price in the last year at all supermarkets, if it’s not collusion then the price rises (aka inflation) are legitimate.

It depends what options people have. For example, this town has a smallish Tesco a ,ile out of town and a smallish Waitrose bang in the centre. There are no other major supermarkets within a 10 mile radius, a few Co-ops but that's about it. There is nowhere for the townfolk to go. We are lucky that we can afford the 2 independant butchers that are now only slightly more expensive than the supermarkets anyway and most of their produce is local, but not everyone can.

There's no doubt that food inflation is a reality as we all know. My point is, some organisations who are shouting loudest about the NI rises are at the very same time using it as an opportunity to increase their profit margins.

Well it does matter doesn't it, especially in your case when you are so critical of others when it comes to an alternative view to BKB?

As it is, your lot shit the bed for 14 years and Labour have indeed left some skidders on the sheets for 14 months.

Unfortunately most of your sheets needed throwing away, the ones with skidders only need to go to the laundrette.

genuinely in your opinion.

what party would have done better than Labour this past year ?

what PM would have been better than Starmer this past year ?

The answer to that is quite simple; anyone and no one. They have made unforced mistakes, it is impossible to say if another government would have made more or less mistakes and if those mistakes would have lesser or greater impact.

If this is what you come up with when you think for yourself, I’d actually rather you just stick to parroting whatever happens to be on LBC.

We will never be able to pick the bones out of it mate as too many variables. Would I put it past Tesco (or anyone) trying to maximise profits? Absolutely not it’s why they are in business.
