Initial waiting period
  • Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA): You may have to wait up to 7 days after applying to start the claim, and up to 2 weeks after that for your first payment.
  • Universal Credit: It can take approximately 5 weeks to receive your first payment. You can also apply for an advance to get money while you wait.
  • Initial contact: After applying for benefits, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will typically contact you within 14 days to invite you to an interview or inform you of your eligibility.
I can only assume you live in an area where there is 100% employment rate and a surplus of jobs available.

The buck stops with him and he was apologising once again for having a hand in appointing a man to a position, knowing he had received donations from as did Nandy and that they would be breaking the ministerial code of conduct.

At what point do you accept he is fucking up instead of just handing him a free pass?

The buck does stop with him and if he has made mistakes, he’s apologised for them, and rightly so.
You seem too keen to put the boot in over things that, in the scheme of things, are hardly monumental

I could blame Labour but will give them a bit longer to see what they are made of. I will admit however that I am heartily sick of people entering our country illegally and know if it continues then heads will roll at the next General Election, because I am not in a minority.

Unfortunately we live in a world where in general bad news is given priority over good news.

Time is needed for any government to make changes that are visible. A year isn’t long enough.

The good news for all “working people” is that their pension funds have probably made 10% plus this year! I’m sure a few hundred quid in income tax rises won’t kill most people if they do target that. We got a 2% NI reduction a couple of years ago out of the blue when there wasn't a clamour to do it.

The talked about reduction in the benefits of salary sacrifice would hit me but I think those benefits are way too generous in the first place so not going to grumble if it is limited a bit. The tax relief alone is incentive enough.

No but an area where people are prepared to get off their arses and do a days graft, I’ve been on price work most of my working life
